Factoring in geography, rivals, history, schedule, 7 home games, GS being back on a Saturday where it belongs and P5 opportunity preseason on paper this might be the best schedule in app football history.
Two FCS isn’t ideal but when you have to scramble and one of them is an old SOCON foe…man, it’s just about perfect.

Not that I feel it will come down to this but just a reminder for anyone interested, only one of those FCS opponents will count towards bowl eligibility.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 9:54 pmFactoring in geography, rivals, history, schedule, 7 home games, GS being back on a Saturday where it belongs and P5 opportunity preseason on paper this might be the best schedule in app football history.

If we win the Citadel Game. No starters should play against Robert Morris after 1st quarter as we will play Beach Chickens on a short week./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 10:42 pmNot that I feel it will come down to this but just a reminder for anyone interested, only one of those FCS opponents will count towards bowl eligibility.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 9:54 pmFactoring in geography, rivals, history, schedule, 7 home games, GS being back on a Saturday where it belongs and P5 opportunity preseason on paper this might be the best schedule in app football history.

I agree, assuming it's not close like the Elon game was for the first half. However, if we don't beat The Citadel I'm worried about more than just Beach ChickensAppstate88 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 10:55 pmIf we win the Citadel Game. Hopefully a tune up before the Chickens.

Just looking at the way our conference games will alternate in the years to come...AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 11:50 am2022 App State Football Schedule
Sat., Sept. 3 vs. North Carolina
Sat., Sept. 10 at Texas A&M
Sat., Sept. 17 vs. Troy*
Sat., Sept. 24 vs. James Madison*
Sat., Oct. 1 vs. The Citadel
Sat., Oct. 8 at Texas State*
Wed., Oct. 19 vs. Georgia State*
Sat., Oct. 29 vs. Robert Morris
Thurs., Nov. 3 at Coastal Carolina*
Sat., Nov. 12 at Marshall*
Sat., Nov. 19 vs. Old Dominion* (Senior Day)
Sat., Nov. 26 at Georgia Southern*
Easier to read. Looks pretty good, two P5/home&away/a lot of eastern seaboard SB games
We go North (VA/WV) once a year (MARSHALL or JMU)
We go East to the Beach every year (ODU or Coastal)
We go South to Georgia once a year (GaSo or GaSt)
We go West once a year to play a West Division Team
Fans in these areas will have an opportunity to see our Mountaineers every year. Many are also drivable for most of our fanbase. This is a WIN-WIN-WIN setup for App State and AppNation. Thank you SBC for your vision and DG for your leadership.

I love the schedule (as it is now), but will be pleasantly surprised if GAST on a Wednesday night draws near the crowd from our two weeknight games last season. Then again, I’m not sure any of our home conference games this year would.

UNC, Troy, and JMU I see as sellouts. GaSt well attended because of the other Shawn as well as Robert Morris (Halloween eve). The other two good attendance just because it is APP playing.

The FCS games are Parent’s weekend and Homecoming so they should be well attended.

Re: Any leaks of the 2022 schedule??
Just thinking out loud and would love to hear pros and cons from the group. I would kind of like to see us go to a 9 game conference schedule. I like our west teams and think we will have a hard time signing decent home games that are interesting and will allow for more what I call "conference fan interest".
I saw discussed on another board that they were excited to see other teams play on TV. If we want our tv deal to increase we are going to have to attract more eyeballs. We need App fans watching Louisiana vs Coastal and Louisiana and Coastal fans watching App vs Troy. I think this is possible to build if we can create rivalries and more familiarity with each other.
2nd pro for me is I think we could legitimately have every Sunbelt team have 6 home games one year and 7 home games the next. Every other season you would have 3 east home and 2 west home alternating with 3 east home and 1 west home. We would still have room in the schedule for a p5 and a good g5 and an FCS. I would rather play our West teams than AAC east teams and none from C-USA or the Mac excite me but we could still put those in the G5 OOC. (Also we will be playing some of those MAC C-usa in bowl games).

I like 8 for now. Gives balance and makes it fair for everyone in terms of home and away conference games played.

As I mentioned earlier 3-3 , 1-1 , builds regional division rivalries ,allows fair rotation with the west and gives us four opps for out of conference match-ups.I think it's ideal.Think about where we were and where we are now my friends.

Re: Any leaks of the 2022 schedule??
I am not complaining. I love what we have going on in the Sunbelt. AppState has done an incredible job to get us where we are. The con for the scenario I put out is the travel cost of the extra west game every other year. I am going to miss playing ArkSt, Troy and Louisiana often.
