Good article and alignment. I like the idea - however, to much outside the box thinking for the NCAA

We could maybe compete with the Fla States of the world in that conference but not year in year out and it would be a tremendous money drain on the athletic budget. Just my opinion.

I saw that and liked the notoriety but it's delusional. It's great to have somebody think of the school this way though.

If only people would donate more to the Yosef Club, we would already be there. /s

Not even a very slim possibility.

I actually think we could compete very well in that conference, in football that is. Sure, the big dogs (Bama, Clemson, UGA, UF) would boat race us for the first several years but I think we compete with the vast majority from day one. We played Miami tight last year and probably should have won, beat UNC and South Carolina in recent memory, and we could easily beat any of the following: FSU, UCF, Georgia Tech, NC State, Duke Wake, UVA, Va Tech (it would be nice to finally play them) and Maryland. Truthfully, I think we would finish in the top third year in and year out and after several years of tv money and exposure I think we could challenge for a conference title. I am sure of one thing, we could win that conference years before UNC, NC State or Duke would sniff it.

Who knows what we could do from a SEC Power 4 conference money deal worth $100M per year per school. Plus we would be on equal field for recruiting. Sign us up and let’s see what we can do.

That was one of the selling points for moving up to FBS and the Sun Belt. Has it worked out for our so-called minor sports. I don't claim to know, but it certainly is debatable. It does seem to have for our Women's sports at least.

I agree that over time we would hold our own. If we had that kind of money from TV contact alone. Would we win at the rate that we win now, probably not..but would like to see us have a chance with this fantasy.
I am a firm believer in culture overall and culture of winning. Which we do.
There is something special about these mountains.

If you want to live with 4-6 wins a year. You have to remember many of these schools have vast amounts of money in addition to that TV money. We would still be losing the race. We live on student fees and borrowed money that has to be paid back. We have a great fan base but not one that contributes money to the cause.

Clearly this is all hypothetical so just to make sure no one thinks I really think this is real.

However, in that context, if we had $100M+ in a P4 Conference revenue share it would absolutely change everything about our entire operations.
1. We are known for doing more with less, several articles have confirmed that. We would be doing that based on $100M or many multiples of what we currently have today.
2. We would be on equal footing for recruiting.
3. There would be an increase in Yosef club contributions, I don't know exactly what but it would be significantly more than what we see today.
4. App would be in a totally different realm of perception as a P4 vs a upcoming G5 school.

What would be the resulting football record? I think we could probably stay in top half of conference but that is a lot of speculation. It is fun but fantasy for me.
