Hitchin' a Ride
Hitchin' a Ride
So, I was very fortunate to score a ticket to the UNC game next week, but unfortunately lost my ride from Winston-Salem to Boone. Is anybody out there willing to give me a ride to and from the game Saturday morning from Winston? I would of course help out with fuel and parking. Thanks in advance!

Re: Hitchin' a Ride
He is legendary from the '80s, for those that knew him and some on here are probably still in touch. One of the myriad of examples of stuff he did...One evening when there was a cold snap of being in the single digits for several days he walked across the street from his apartment into the Hardee's with nothing on but a toboggan and proclaimed that it was really cold outside and asked if he could get a bun for his hot dog. No one would do that but Pete.

Isn't there a bus that runs from Greensboro to Winston and to Boone and back? I can't remember what is was called.

Re: Hitchin' a Ride
Mountaineer Express leaves W-S downtown at 8:40 AM and gets into Boone at 10:50 The later evening trip down the mountain does not run on Saturdays any more. I think this is a casuality of Covid. We should lobby to get that back but people have to ride it.
The return east leaves Boone at 11:40 AM so this is going to require a hotel stay overnight.
A shame this is not a real option. This is a good environmental option.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Re: Hitchin' a Ride
I'd second that. I always saw students getting on it in raley lot and thought it was a great idea. Would love it if we could afford to run one on the Raleigh to Boone corridor and then one to Charlotte and back.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 5:03 pmMountaineer Express leaves W-S downtown at 8:40 AM and gets into Boone at 10:50 The later evening trip down the mountain does not run on Saturdays any more.
