ESPN GameDay coming Sept. 24th?

ESPN GameDay may be coming to Boone Sept. 24th vs James Madison. The scenery plus a chance to feature a G5 match-up puts this game on the map. Also the student section is the best around! Winning the tarhole game may seal the deal.GO APPS!!!

Depends on records and other matchups.

I would still put the odds on them actually coming to about 10%. Surely they'll come to Boone eventually, I just don't know when. We've had some great matchups and been ranked well and they still haven't come. There's always a bigger matchup when we have our big matchup.

what makes you think they MAY be coming? Did they mention it as a possibility or are you simply looking at the schedule and hoping? Only way we would get it is if we beat UNC and Texas A&M.

Just a hunch I have, I have no proof whatsoever to back this theory... But I feel Herbie may have a say in the matter on whether they come to Boone or not. I think he knows he'll still catch hell for his comments on Gameday back on 9/1/07 right before we shocked the world

Herbie doesn't know G5 teams exist.

Game Day seems to go the FCS route rather than G5 route during the weeks with no big P5 matchups. Once the mega conferences fully align, one would think Game Day would have enough matchups between P5 schools to fill their schedule. I hope I'm wrong, but I think that ship has sailed.

ESPN got shut out of the BIG contract so they will only care about SEC. If we get an SEC or ACC team to Boone early I would think they would promote it....Especially if the team visiting is highly ranked (top 10). Doug can't control if the team is highly ranked when they visit Boone. Our best bet would be a Sunbelt game for the NY6 on the line at the end of the season or NCState to get ranked before they visit. If South Carolina would ever show up they could maybe get ranked. ESPN will have a vested interest in growing interest in the SUNBELT!!!!!

It gets frustrating for some knowing that we'd bring a great atmosphere to the Game Day set, and hearing various commentators calling our games talk about the great atmosphere in Boone, yet no love.
I've personally given up hope. If it happens it happens. Since Game Day announces their location on a week to week basis, I just hope if it happens it's during a week I can attend. If not I know my fellow Mountaineer faithful will represent and rise to the occasion.

Conversations have been had between both parties. Doubt it happens though.

There’s a few compelling matchups that weekend. I’d prefer to have game day our first time in peak leaf season

Clemson @ Wake
Arkansas @ A&M
Florida @ UTk
I don't get this thread.
We'd have to beat A&M to have a 2% shot and doubtful the opponent would be JMU.

Always fun to speculate....... every single season. But agreed, not gonna happen. Too many other games and stories. Hopefully I'm wrong, it would be a fun day!
