Joke or not. They had a much needed 10 day break and did make some necessary adjustments. Without seeing the ability to right a badly listing ship I would have more concerns. Any team feeds of emotions and actions of its leaders. Not sure any of us would have been any less of a bundle of nerves starting the game last night after the last few weeks. Contract extension, don't know about that but I'm not saying we have a bad coach or coaches either.

It's interesting that when Coach Clark was named as head coach, there was a lot of positive excitement about the hire on here. Now some are calling for his firing.

Who do you want? Take a stance! Stop simply being a troll. Go on record who you think App should hire

Ill be the first to admit i dont know enough about coaching vacancys and who we could afford. But ive always been against the clark hire simply because the players wanted him so bad. That means hes there buddy and not a respected leader.

Anyways...ive found the last few years to be more upsetting than most...so for the record im team send him on his way

That is absolutely a generalized statement which holds no specific weight because each and situation is different ---

I agree WV. Read that statement again and it makes no sense. No AD worth his salt hires a coach because "the players want him". For one the players change. If all 85 guys were underclassmen and the hire was for one year that's one thing (far fetched). You hope any hire will work and be long term.

One aspect of coaching contracts that baffles me are the extensions that don't seem necessary. If a coach has a couple of years left why extend him after a decent, good or even great season? How many times do these decisions come back to bite the school? Think A&M is excited about owing Jimbo $80m?

My understanding on extensions generally is that if there isn't one then opponents use it against them in recruiting - exp. Coach A has only 2 years left on his contract and hasn't received an extension as yet - Both Coach A and Coach B are recruiting Player 1 - it could be something like Coach B telling the player, look I have a 6 year extension and I'm not going anywhere (wink, wink) and when you make your decisions you might want to consider a program' s continuity because you are going to be there 5 years ---
Now, I have no idea how the Portal alters any of the coach pitches to recruits

Never been in the fire Clark camp, but also not in the extension camp either. He’s got three more years on this deal right?

I'm 100% for Clark. It was a good hire at the time for a program that desperately needed continuity at the HC position. It's a good hire now for a program that due to it's success is going to be a stepping point for coordinators and position coaches. Clark has proven to be well networked in the coaching community and well liked and able to bring in good hires at the assistant positions. He got us the big win this year where we were decided underdogs, they had the predictable hangover and rebounded well last game. (Easily covered the spread). Head coach manages the program, and we seem to be well managed. Coordinators call the plays and Clark apparently put his thumb on the scale of the play calling appropriately last game with success. It won't be all roses until we get to the Alabama level but at our current level and for a G5 program, it's pretty dang good.

He also got us into the SBC Championship game last year and we lost by just 1 score (TD+2pt conv). He's 2-1 in bowl games and has an incredulous top 10 victory against an SEC team. Despite having one of the toughest strengths of schedule for the first 4 weeks of this season, he's got us poised to challenge again for the SBC East and I like our chances. So, I like Clark as our HMIC (Head Mountaineer in Charge).

Shouldn't these things be reviewed at the end of the season and based upon the body of work???
