There was once a time when App State was one of the most difficult teams to beat when they visited opposing venues. After three road losses this season, it’s quite clear the Mountaineers are lacking that edge they used to have. To throw salt in the wound, in all three road conference losses, the home team wore black. Almost like they are mocking the Mountaineers. Do those psychological tricks work? Maybe it works for the fans, to give us something to talk about, and be annoyed by. But that is not why this season has unfolded the way it has. There is just a little bit missing this year. It’s difficult to explain. One possession here or there. Perhaps a missed a two point conversion. Or a penalty called incorrectly. But those are just excuses. If you want to win, you have to get on the field, figure it out, and earn it, no matter how it looks. Motivation should not be lacking in these final two games, with senior day on Saturday and your biggest rival next weekend. I have faith. I hope you’ll join me.

It’s hard for me to remember a time we’ve had our backs more against the wall. Obviously this is a must win to salvage the season.

We will truly see what this team is made of on Saturday. It’s time for the senior leaders to step up and leave on a high note.

This may not be the season we hoped, but I still stand by the belief that finishing 8-5, with a bowl win, with a win at TAMU (regardless of what they are), hosting UNC in an electric game, hosting GameDay, is a great season for App State Football.

I wanna see our defense hit ODU players so hard that they send them back to junior varsity.

Two teams that are struggling not to finish last..... Both started out on high notes and then crashed and burned.... We will call this, "The Battle of the Cellar Dweller". ODU is the alma mater of my old boss. I do not care for my old boss. With that being said, beat the Monarchs.

App seems to be on a better trajectory than ODU is.

Four common opponents and both teams are 1-3. App beat Georgia State and ODU beat Coastal Carolina. Apps points for average is 30 and points against is 28. ODU's points for average is 17 and points against is 25. I think App pulls this one out, but it will depend on which team shows up. Are we going to play with a fire inside, or are we going to get behind early and play catchup. Points will be at a premium and the more efficient team (able to sustain drives and score points, turnovers and penalties at a minimum) will win. I haven't lost faith that we can win this game, but please App, put together 4 quarters of well planned and well played football.
