Existing and Additional Scholarships for 2013
I'm was working on getting an official listing of the total number of additionals we are going to use and who is getting them but I saw the tweets listed below and I thought it was a good time to get this thread started. We also must keep in mind that McElfresh's could have been one already exisiting from a player who has left the team, either a graduated player or one who has left for other reasons. I'll add more information as I get it and welcome anyone who hears anything to post it. I know of several more who have been mentioned but I would like a bit more confirmation before I post them. I'm hoping to have a complete list once they've all been given out. Here we go.
Appears Simms McElfresh has been given a full ride.

Re: Existing and Additional Scholarships for 2013
I predict McElfresh will be one of the surprise players of the 2013 season.
On the sidelines, he looks like our waterboy. But he's one of those receivers who runs precise routes, hardly ever drops a pass and he lulls the other team to sleep with his unassuming manner. He'll also benefit from all our other targets because they certainly will draw more defensive attention than he will.

I understand that Drew Stewart also got a full ride for 2013.

Re: Existing and Additional Scholarships for 2013
Not that these few aren't completely deserving, but I've always worried that we would end up filling our 11 new scholarship spots with players already on the team instead of going out and getting transfers to fill the position depth at spots like OL and DB that we need. This won't make our team any better or different.
Congrats to these guys, but I hope we use at least some of the remaining scholarships for brand new players.

Re: Existing and Additional Scholarships for 2013
It is my understanding that we have reached 74 for the year. At this point, it doesn't look like we will be adding any more players for 2013.
Re: Existing and Additional Scholarships for 2013
You are correct. Wish we had got more transfers or new signees, but the timing wasn't very good for getting additional players for the class of 2013. Sun Belt dragging their feet did not help. Kept wondering if it was intentional.

Re: Existing and Additional Scholarships for 2013
Its highly possible some of these young men are better than the transfer pool that is out there. Transfers sound good but our success rate at transfers becoming major contributors is pawltry. We probably have a higher success rate with walk ons....
