He’s coached 4 DL on to the NFL, has a pretty good track record as Dline coach. If you stop right there, it looks like a great hire. But that he played at GaSo makes me want to throw up a little. Conversely, maybe it will make GaSo fans want to throw up a little more.

This is a damn good hire. I honestly didn't even know he wasn't coaching anywhere. This is definitely a Sloan pick.

If he can coach D Line guys and recruit in SE and Sloan likes him/has confidence in him then I am good with the hire. On paper it looks like he has a very good resume with athletes we would probably recruit. I don't care if he graduated from GaSo. There has been a lot of cross pollination between the two schools for more than a few years now. Kind of like UGA and Alabama.

So who's coaching the ILBs? Looks like Lockwood coached LBs in '05-'06 when he was at Minnesota - I didn't see anything in Sloan's background with LBs

Hey...everybody deserves a chance to turn their lives around and gain redemption...here's his chance. Kind of like when Darth Vader left the Dark Side at the end....

I figured it was and I am with you on the hire. This could be a good one. Look back when he played at GSU. He was there during a strong stint as a player so he knows what it takes to win. I'm happy to give him a chance. These folks who say they don't know how to feel or throw up a little need to think of this as a chance to convert him from evil to good! lol

That was my guess on here before that we move Lockwood to LBs and Sloan coaches safeties. It would make complete sense. My only fear now is that we are about to lose Watts and Lance Ware. I don't want to lose either of them but Watts will sting the most because he overseas recruiting.

I’m pretty sure that Sloan will coach Safeties.

We've all made mistakes. My wife actually took one online class at Stink. That was a bitter pill to swallow, but she is worth it.

Why did he not coach in 2022?

I don't know. Trying to figure that out. Looks like he was working for Riddell selling athletic equipment. It could be as simple as he was tired of coaching, decided to get in to the corporate world and missed it, and jumped at the opportunity. I really don't know.

As long as he admits that since Deliverance was filmed in Georgia, that it’s representative of Georgia natives and not NC, I suppose I can accept him. And also that Quick was in…

I'm guessing he wasn't retained by Helton, then decided to take the season off. I imagine that happens to more assistant coaches then we are aware. Good for him to get back into coaching. Welcome to The Rock, this time wearing the right colors.

Anyone here have access to the “Flight Line” on Georgia Southern’s message board? It’s locked to non members. Would be curious as to their thoughts.
