Helmet question

has anyone else noticed pictures from fall camp where it certainly looks to me like the front portion of the helmet has a shine and the rest is matte - anyone have any clues? (other than my old tired eyes) ---

I think it's to protect the finish on the helmets. The matte finish is not as easy to rub out scratches, I think.
