He's not wrong on one thing, it is a business. Everyone has to do what is best for them because they could lose their play time in a split second for a myriad of reasons. Coaches are just as much politicians as mentors these days and tell you what you want to hear or what they need to tell you to make their team better so they don't lose their jobs. Its a cutthroat system now so you gotta do what's best for you. I hold no ill will towards any of these adults who choose to transfer.

Coaches play the best players that provide the most consistent performance on the field. It’s a job to them and as such, they need to ensure that they put the best product on the field. We as fans may not always agree with those decisions. When we see a guy that we think should be playing, we often ask why the coach isn’t playing him instead of asking why the kid isn’t performing well enough to be on the field.

And I agree with the above. I don’t begrudge anyone wishing to transfer in their own best interest. Not everything is a good fit. But as it was said to me, everyone in the portal is in there for a reason. Some good, some bad. Figuring out which one is which is the trick.

Pretty clear from the article, which I read in my morning RT, that his father was the driving force behind the move.

In the print article there is a nice picture of Troy blocking in the UNC game.
