Up Next...UNC
It took over a half for App to figure things out and pull away from GW. UNC had a pretty good night vs USC. Will be a game for App. Will UNC have a we are great hangover? Will App come out strong as usual vs P5 opponents?
I'm worried this one may not be attainable or competitive.
What say you?

Re: Up Next...UNC
UNC will do all they can to embarrass us and they have all the tools to do it. I am NOT looking forward to this game. I know we say anyone, anywhere, anytime.... USC kept it to 31-17... I'm hoping we can keep it this close. I said this in another thread that unless something Michiganesque happens, we will lose this one. I think our only hope will be to have a shootout with them and hope we have the ball last.

Re: Up Next...UNC
from the replays i saw Maye's TD passes were not well thrown and receivers adjusted to make the catch.
UNC will be in Love with themselves.
The UNC D line did very well.
I expect APP to open the book and be competitive from the beginning to end of the game.
If we don't play a complete game of smart aggressive football, i think we may have a problem. I remember when APP used to fight from beginning to end every week. Vanilla football will kill us

Re: Up Next...UNC
I don't think it matters, but the ESPN predictor gives us an 8.5% chance to win Saturday. 44.6% at home v. ECU and 31.3% at Laramie. Those percentages changed quite a bit since games were played yesterday. UNC looked good and Wyoming beat Texas Tech, but I don't get why the ECU game flipped.

Drake hung 63 on us last year.....my only hope is that we found our new QB yesterday, and maybe his first start he'll get lucky.

I hope May has a good orthodontist. I recall the quote from Shawn Elliott prior to 34 32 day: "We might not win that game but we are going to hit them right in the mouth."

Re: Up Next...UNC
I disagree that they will look to embarrass us. Mack has too much respect for App to run it up, if they can.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 11:25 amUNC will do all they can to embarrass us and they have all the tools to do it. Re: Up Next...UNC
It largely depends on our defense keeping the pressure up and sticking like glue to their wide outs. Our D line needs to bring the pressure and the O line needs to give Joey time to think. I don't think it's impossible, but this will be the hardest of the 3 games. My bigger concern is overall team cohesion and energy levels. I only saw what was on the TV, maybe some of y'all there saw something different. For the beginning of the season, they seemed very flat and more concerned with how to celebrate than doing something to celebrate about. Our culture has to keep up with the times in order for new players to buy in. I'm not sure how that's working now, I'd welcome y'alls thoughts.

Re: Up Next...UNC
Not many people have noticed but games are quicker this year with the new clock rules (doesn’t stop after first down). Saw a small sample size but games are about 20 snaps less than average. That may play into our hand next week, take it out of Maye’s hands and keep it out. Ground and pound and wear them out. Excited to see Aguilar involved more in designed runs.

Re: Up Next...UNC
To me the key is ball-control - keeping Maye on the sideline - we run the ball effectively then we can pop some passes on them - Rattler was 30-38 for around 350 yards but the defense hounded and pounded him the entire game -
Of course - Easier said than done ---

Re: Up Next...UNC
Folks down on the defense, but I saw 2 interceptions and at least 3 almost interceptions. App DID give up a good many yards on short, quick throws. However, if the DBs can really ball hawk and cause a few turnovers, who knows what might happen? (Also, before someone says it, OBVIOUSLY Drake Maye and UNC are better than GW. I still stand by my point)

Anyone of you beautiful people have an extra ticket to sell for the UNC game. If you do I'll buy it.

Line is -13.
Kind of surprising given how both teams played yesterday and it’s @ Chapel Hill

Re: Up Next...UNC
Thought I saw -14 earlier, now -14.5. Probably will shift and move around a little but does seem a little light to me. I doubt Burger injury has any weight on moving the line. We like being the dog, let’s go smack em in the mouth like 2019.GSUwasGump’sFallbackSchool wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 4:04 pmLine is -13.

UNC D is legit. Ours is very suspect.
I’ll be there.
