Canty commits to Appalachian State

#RIVERDALE - Riverdale rising senior Rashad Canty committed to play his college football at Appalachian State during his visit to the Boone, N.C., campus on Saturday.

#Canty's coach, Terry Herrod, confirmed the commitment via text message on Saturday afternoon. Neither were available for comment.

#Canty, a 6-4, 205-pounder, had 30 receptions last season as the Raiders reached the playoffs for the first time since the 2006 season. He also had offers from Furman, South Alabama, Georgia State and Mercer. According to his profile on several online recruiting sites, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, South Carolina and Wisconsin had shown interest, but had not made an official offer.

#Appalachian State is a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) powerhouse that has won three championships on the NCAA's second-highest level.

#In late March, the school announced it would joined he NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.

He's listed in the commits section of the main recruiting page and has a player page with video for those who are interested. We will be posting each commit in the Recruiting, 2014 thread (it was lost a couple of days ago. Hopefully Yosef can get the original one back) and will be listing each one in the Commits section with their pages.

70, go to the top of the page and mouse over the Sports tab. Highlight Football and Articles, Schedule, and Recruiting appear. Move over to Recruiting and 2013 and 2104 will appear, click on 2014 and you'll find the main 2104 Recruiting Page with all the information I've been working on over the past few months. Nearly every player has a page built for them with info and highlights. That's what we're doing for football, basketball, and baseball, putting up recruiting pages for each sport and year. Lots of work. Sorry you didn't know where it was.
