App State field hockey is 10-4 and tied for first place in the conference.

Yep. And field hockey was the main sport that on the old Delphi MMB that was discussed majorly as one that should be cut since travel all over the country out weighed revenue by ten to one, so to speak, as well as attracting very little attendance and attention.
Always liked field hockey because in certain areas up north it attracts a lot of attention with regard to girls and women' sports. Saw several matches in PA and DE when I had nothing else to do. Came away loving the action even though I never quite understood what was actually happening. Harder to understand than real ice hockey,
Bet we could count on one hand the number of members of this message board ones who have attended a FH match in person and stayed for the whole thing.

I take it maybe the post was tongue in cheek or sarcastic, but for womens' sports, it is a real feather in our caps.

Men's soccer is currently unbeaten....

LOL, and will remain that way until we ever actually recreate a men's soccer program. Wrestling has been unbeaten totally for a long time in the Sun Belt conference since we officially compete in the SOCON.

Absolutely not tongue in cheek. I was trying to say something positive about App athletics this fall. I said on here last winter that field hockey was App's best chance to win a conference championship and go to the NCAAs this year, and while their preformance against Miami was concerning, I still think it is quite possible.

And they almost did. Made it to the MAC finals and had the best record of any team not picked for the NCAA Tournament.

As I tell my wife and friends here in Richmond when they trot out their "VCU football, still unbeaten" slogan, it is equally accurate and probably more appropriate to say "VCU football, still winless".
