My expectations every single season:

1: go undefeated and win the National Championship
2: play in the NY6 game
3: win the Sunbelt
4: play in and win a bowl game

Number 1 is nearly impossible and as a reasonable and non-delusional fan I don't expect that. If we accomplish number 2 the 3rd is a given.

Those are the goals and expectations I'd set but by the same token not accomplishing the first 3 does not equate to coaching changes. There are other aspects to sports (football) that go beyond those first 3 expectations.
So since #1-2 are unrealistic the final two are your realistic expectations? How we doing with the Clark regime?
It’s great that you are so negative about Clark and the program. I’m happy for you. Truly. Perhaps you were the some of the people trying to run him out of town this season?

The 6 highest conference champs make the playoff next season. The PAC 12 is over. That means two conference champs from either the AAC, CUSA, MAC, MWC, and Sun Belt will be in the playoff. A 3rd will be in a NY6 bowl. 3/5 conferences. Number 1 and 2 are not unrealistic. They are only unrealistic to people like you who trash our program every chance they get.
The clause of the 6 highest is almost certainly going to change to the top 5, those that make the rules aren't going to give up an additional slot to the "G5".

I’ve never understood the concept of having expectations of things that one can’t control or affect. Seems rather childish to me.
I have expectations of stock prices with each investment I make.

Expectations are not childish.

They won't give up a 9-3 SEC team like Missouri or Tennessee for a G5 slot. Only 1 G5 will make it. We will have to pray to get 2 G5's in.

And if they don’t meet your expectations, then you can move your money. That is in your control. Having expectations over something that you have no control over and complaining on a message board about how someone else or something didn’t meet your emotional needs is childish. But you do you Andy.

It would be helpful if someone in the athletic department would put out a guide to tell us what we are allowed to think, how we must spend our money, what things we can and cannot comment on and when we are supposed to just shut up and send in our money. If we had something like that, then we could all be good fans.

Sounds like I'm a topic of conversation with your friends that know me, cool, thanks for taking an interest.

Everyone doesn't need to meet your definition of a fan. It is hilariously hypocritical that you can't see that you are being childish (your words) complaining about others complaining which you can't control.

You aren't going to stop fans from having expectations. Take your own advice and accept it (put them on ignore) and move on focusing your efforts on talking about football.

It's important that you know that they know who you are. I've gotten a few PMs where folks have made extra sure to let me know that they know who I am. Kinda goes hand in hand with your communism reference in the post above.

Imagine taking this board so seriously you attempt to silence others. Rather than hold open debate and sharing thoughts. I'm a huge proponent of free speech which is under attack in society.

You people who will only accept championships as measures of success will never be satisfied. It’s ridiculous to place that kind of expectation on any coach. You should be glad that expectation isn’t placed on you, whatever it is you do. If it is then I’m sorry for you and your family. If you place the same expectation on those who work for you then I’m sorry for them. But I have a “loser” mentality so what do I know.
Very good.

I believe it already has changed to the 5 highest for the 2025 season. This is another reason that makes 2024 and this off-season so important/unique.

Don't be surprised if that is changed to start in 2024 with newly found clause that "material changes in the conference alignment" necessitate an amendment to the "6".

If the college football playoffs are not governed by the NCAA who will force them to include any G5 teams? Is that based on what is believed to be a rule that the highest rated 6 conference champions get an automatic bid? If there are 4 P5 conferences are they really going to let in 2 G5 champs? Seems too good to be true.

I believe that you have a lot of inside information from the team. That puts you in a different position then most of us. Even with your added information posters are entitled to their opinion, even if we don't agree.

Merry Christmas week

https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... -need-know

https://www.nbcsports.com/college-footb ... ne-history

These are a few articles I found on the new format. The CFB Playoff adopted the 6+6 format (6 conference champs auto bids + 6 at-large teams) in Dec of 2022. Yes it is not governed by the NCAA but they have said this is the new format.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/100 ... eam-format

This article talks about how the CFB Playoff will 99% shift to a 5+7 format but it is unknown if that will be for the 2024 or 2025 season. It is reported to "likely" be the 6+6 for 2024.

Either way, a G5 team will be selected every year and we play the reigning NY6 team at home next season. Unique and huge opportunity for us.
