Re: Owens Field House locker room
Dont know. But since it's used to house the visiting teams, I say, who cares? Let em stay in that dump and feel as uncomfortable as possible.
Besides, it's in the plans to be demolished at some point in the not-so-distant future anyway. There is no point in pouring money into renovating that place.

Re: Owens Field House locker room
It's not too bad inside, but I'd like to see it demolished and replaced before the 2014 season just because of how old it looks on the outside. The athletics facility is extravagant -- the most impressive in the state, and it really doesn't mesh well with an old building like Owens.

Re: Owens Field House locker room
I should have been more specific in my question. Is there a minimum size, amount of equipment, etc that is required over FCS. I think somewhere I have heard this but my research has not productive.

Re: Owens Field House locker room
i guess this answers my question.
In regards to South Alabama's Ladd Stadium
" Ladd is a historic old girl.
But she doesn't even have a permanent structure for the visiting team's locker room. That's right.... when your team visits Ladd, they will be dressing and having halftime in tents."

Re: Owens Field House locker room
I say we demolish Owens and build a new structure whether that be a dorm or another field house. At that point, I'd like to see us adopt South Alabama's model and make the visiting team spend pregame and halftime in tents.

Re: Owens Field House locker room
I say we leave it until we have an exact plan of what will take it's place. T&F, Cross Country and Field Hockey still have offices and use the weight rooms there. No need to deprive them of room just for aesthetic's sake.
With App no longer going after the 40% on-campus student housing ratio, building a new dorm will be tricky. If it's an athletes dorm/field house and Justice is torn down or converted into something else, then that's a solid move.
Thinking about it more, I still can't believe we housed most of our varsity sports in Owens until 2009.

I hope the wall can be preserved and used elsewhere. It contains bricks that are engraved with the names of former star players who date back to the early 1950's as well as those of significant donors.

You are being shined by the South Alabama people.
Standard joke for them about visiting teams having to use tents.
