After seeing your post, I have to agree with you. Screw the other G5s except the SB!!! Changed my mind.AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 10:21 amI might be wrong for doing it but I pulled against the G5 teams in matchups against P5s, except for Troy’s game against Duke and Liberty’s game against Oregon. My rationale is 1) we need the Sun Belt to become the clear No. 1 conference among G5s (for example: SMU’s loss to Boston College knocks down the AAC a bit), and 2) we need Liberty to be nationally ranked and riding a long winning streak when the Flames come to Boone next season.

Re: Bowl Season
Scored the TD and 2pt looks like they will win. And of course will have the greatest team ever by the time we play them next year.

Re: Bowl Season
I feel like bowl games are quickly becoming meaningless in terms of determining the best teams or conferences.
Seems like every game I watch, they start the broadcast by listing all the players who aren’t playing because they’ve already transferred or don’t want to get hurt.
I know that must sound pessimistic, but college football just isn’t the same anymore and I don’t like it.

Re: Bowl Season
No way I will ever pull for Liberty. Them riding high when we beat them next year would be a consolation though. I really don't think they hang with Oregon though.AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 12:26 pmI understand your feelings. Only 1 automatic - could be more than one (but not likely)

Re: Bowl Season
With NIL money....the playoffs should flow the fcs type playoff. Let them earn the NIL money. Make an 11 game season amd a 24 team playoff. It would be a great sport.

Re: Bowl Season
I've asked this question before. Who exactly had the official authority to separate the FBS level football programs into two separate divisions (so to speak)- P5 and G5? In basketball they refer to some schools as mid major but ultimately every D1 is the same in March. I have always understood the real dividing line for football but we all see every year the dog crap schools in the major conferences who are P5 mainly by association.

Re: Bowl Season
It wasn't a separation. It is the P5 imposing their will via resources and influence and is an unfortunate reality. The naming was probably by the media in recognition of the economic reality.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 10:33 pmI've asked this question before. The terms Group of Five and Power Five are not formally defined by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and the precise origins of the terms are unknown.

Congrats to Drink. Whipping Ohio State in a bowl game is impressive, especially when you’re at Missouri.

Re: Bowl Season
I was convinced that Missouri was a dead end job. Not in the sense of salary but as being an SEC doormat. Impressive to see what Drink has done there.
If Ryan Day isn’t careful he may have just lost to his future replacement.

Yeah now it may be a matter of time until Drink is gone from Mizz.
