Would love a G5/B12/Pac2 playoff is they’re going to do their best to keep G5’s out of it.

The best outcome for g5 football is a CFP Playoff and an NIT like Football playoff for the next 16 teams. The TV Money needs the next 16 teams including some P4/p2 teams. Also, the exposure the g5 teams get will be better with p5 inclusion. It should be the requirement the g5 teams hold out for. 1 team inclusion in the CFP and 4 other champs included in NIT like 16 team playoff of teams not making the CFP Playoff.

This is what the G5 should be pushing for and the p2 should be a mandatory participation. 1 participant in the CFP and 4 (Automatic Qualifiers) for the NIT football playoff.

The idea that the SEC and the Big Ten get auto byes is absurd beyond setting aside a certain number of guaranteed spots for them. They likely would get those spots anyway but saying they get byes is an insult to say a Clemson or Florida State.
The ACC is a very weak conference which is why both Clemson and FSU have been linked to leaving. The SEC had 5 top 10 teams last year. It’s always funny that when bowl season comes around it’s usually ACC 2 v SEC 6 or 7 and a close game. I’m not sure the Big 10 is deserving of the autobyes and maybe the SEC isn’t either, but based on history and the teams below, the SEC is more than capable of getting 4-6 teams in every year regardless of byes and locks.
Alabama
Georgia
Texas
Oklahoma
LSU
Tennessee
Ole Miss
Shoot Auburn and Florida have national championships in the past 2 decades and are barely top 10 teams in their conference now.

That could be a playoff in itself. It’s all about money unfortunately.
I think it save to assume that, in particular, SEC teams will be bye receivers because of their play on the field. But, it is absurd that they are guaranteed those spots before a season even begins.

The only team that is guarantied a bye is Notre Dame.

College football is well on its way to destruction. We can only hope that the fans ultimately reject college football becoming a semi pro league.

At this rate, before long players won’t even have to attend the school.

At that point, why even watch.

Already happening, Dartmouth Basketball has agreed to Unionize stating they are employees of the school. So basically they would not need to attend the school as an employee.

And how long will it take Dartmouth to eliminate the basketball department because it contributes nothing to the bottom line?

One advantage a college team has over a professional team is that it is harder to move a college team.

I find it hard to believe that the SEC would be in favor of an arrangement that includes them and the BIG 12 only. They have no respect for ANY other conference and think the SEC Champion is the National Champion. They will be happy to have only SEC teams invited to the party. 🤓

These guys are very short-sighted. They'll be applying for (management) jobs in a few years; they each will have an Ivy League education but also have the taint of being union organizers. Their names will be well-known (probably have their own wikipedia page). Just checked; the Dartmouth Basketball Wikipedia page has already been updated.

Wasn't part of the original discussion with the move from FCS to FBS level that eventually the Power group would eventually split off? Honestly a G5 championship would be fun. Based on Cincinnati performance last year in playoffs it would be a extremely long shot for App or any G5 to win the Power group playoff.
Anyway Go App!

I believe that is what the Power wants the Group to believe, when the rules are stacked against the Group to keep the Power in Power. Change the rules and the Group will challenge the Power.

Appalachian sees the world a little different for one main reason, Appalachian Beat Michigan.

The Sun Belt sees the world a little bit different too for one main weekend, Appalachian Beats Texas A&M, Marshall Beats Notre Dame, and Georgia Southern Beats Nebraska.

There are some that say none of those games should have ever been played, because those lower schools can not compete with the big boys.

Paul Finebaun is a useless talking head who has never worn a pair of shoulder pads or helmet in his life. He’s the stereotypical mainstream media douche who believes that he is the smartest person in the room. He’s a complete A5 sellout pushing the narrative.
Paul is a cheerleading turd riding the Greg Sankey/SEC wave with a highly biased narrative, everyone else is gum on his shoe. I've had no use for him looking down his nose at the rest of the football world once I quickly figured out his schtick. If you are an SEC fan I'd imagine one has use for him. Sankey's propaganda model has worked the SEC on top of the money grab in bed with the Networks. SEC - SEC - SEC ..."It's just means more"

A book can be written on how the ACC 'watched Rome burn' while losing everything it once had. Sad demise if you are old enough to remember better times.

Not that it will singularly hurt but I refuse to watch another SEC or Big10 game and i cant be alone. With the power of social media the viewing public could send a shock wave to ESPN and the greedy P5 cartel.

Yes, the idea being that FCS will one day become what amounts to 1-AAA. And they weren't wrong in that.

Also, the big selling point was supposed to be that the regular season games would be more exciting and worth the tradeoff of a postseason that is more than a glorified scrimmage for all but a tiny few. I'm curious if those folks still think the same way today, that the postseason doesn't matter its all about the regular season?

I think there is a real possibility that the SEC/Big10 could screw themselves and Rek become the majority. Ask NASCAR.

Eventually for sure but it will take 10-15 yrs to play out the bad business model before it fails.
