App should really follow the other underperforming programs lead and make changes accordingly. Broken record, but yeah, we won’t win again this year with this staff. Player talent is there, just not being utilized in a winning manner. Hope I eat crow, but just don’t see it.

When the players on the field aren't up to snuff, does firing a coordinator truly make a difference? Can someone share recent examples of when a OC/DC was fired mid-season and the team's performance radically improved? And no, this is not a rhetorical question.

Firing an OC/DC is generally seen as a "sacrificial lamb" move by an HC to keep him from losing his job...and nothing more.

If you don’t have the talent any coach will fail. Currently our players aren’t good enough to field even a decent defense and the offense isn’t as bad but weak along the OL. A huge part of that is on the coaches bringing in the talent and then developing. I don’t see how many of the guys starting will ever be developed into top G5 talent. The program has deteriorated rapidly in a very short period.

There’s the old adage “a head coach is only as good as his assistants”.

Without calling out a specific player.....I think one of our "stars" is the biggest problem of our team. He thinks every play should go his way. He actually shook his head when a play call came in during the last game tipping off the other team that it would be a run. The player is thought of by the fan base as a great player but if you watch the little discipline type plays....blocking and blocking downfield or selling his route when it is not coming his way...he doesn't make the plays. I wonder how many of our run plays would go for more if he was holding blocks or truly clearing out on run plays.

Solid point Spacemonkey. I posed a question on the 24/7 board asking if moving said player to the slot made our offense better? I asked could it have affected our run game? The App Shill that is called David Ware, claimed I was digging on a player (he then made a similar point as my question 2 weeks later and David Ware Shills like Yosef94 and ChancetheRanger ate it up and said thank you for the insight Mr. Mania).

With that being said, I'll pose the question to Yosef's Cabin - Has moving KRob to the slot benefitted our offense? That was a coaching decision that many (Yosef94 mainly) lauded as a game changing decision. Yet, our inconsistencies on the ground and red zone struggles would indicate this move has not benefitted us. He has put up good stats but the offense has took a step back. Could this be a main culprit?

If we were assign percentages to reasons the run game has struggled, I'd put a larger percentage on the oline than swapping WR positions.

Fair point, but having WRs who are effective blockers use to be a hallmark of App State.

Judging just by the lack of plays of 50+ yards this season, I think possibly. Stroman has had jump ball chances in the last two games and didn't come down with any of them.

Also, Ware works as sideline reporter for the radio crew on road games, so he's not a reporter IMO.

Personally, I was actually excited to see the move to the slot when announced. Thought it was going to be a great idea. His hands, quickness (not speed) would be an asset and thought the best way for the WR to get noticed at next level. Maybe it has not worked out at the level expected. Also could be play calling, routes he is being told to run and maybe some of it is QB strengths on where they are more comfortable throwing to some parts of the field. I have not analyzed the games in that detail to that one specific player.

We don’t block very well. Or tackle. We turn the ball over with regularity .Its a team effort. I won’t single Robinson out. As to Ware , I wrote him off years ago.

The dad has been very active on twitter the past couple of weeks. He's been our best player this year though so can't fault them for being pissed.

I thought it was going to work too but no one else has been able to step up outside so they can double with a backer and a safety over Krob.
I don't like our safety valve being found in the middle of the field. Too many defenders around, balls are more prone to interceptions and that's exactly what's happening.
