Gillin
It just feels like he needs some heat. Short term vision here.

Yes but his azz is the one who has to answer if this does not work. “Heavy is the head that wears the crown.”

Re: Fire Gillin
The folks that would fire him were part of the decision making process and approved the contract.

True, but if this one doesn’t work out I’d wager he’ll be a fall guy. DG has done much more postive than negative during his tenure and arguably the best AD we’ve had in the last 30+ years.

Damnation, guys. Folks wanted Clark gone and it happened. Now there's a new sheriff in town and before the ink is dry on his contract the fantastic Mountaineer Nation and fan base that has been bragged on nationally is pushing him under the friggin' bus. Let's all take a deep breath, cool off, relax, let the man get settled, hire his staff, evaluate the talent, and do some recruiting. He could finish 12-1 next year and lose in the SBC championship game and he'd be run out of town on a rail if most of the folks on this board had their way.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Re: Fire Gillin
I agree on overall performance of the AD...however, this is the money maker sport (more so than athletics). As such, if the unfortunate event were to play out and the new coach (whomever it is) is not successful, the AD will be on a very hot seat
Welcome new coach!! Let's go win a 'ship!!

Re: Fire Gillin
Saint I'm with you. DG's hiring record so far has been pretty dang good so it's time to give the man some support and get behind him. The ink on his contract isn't dry and already too many folks want to push him off the cliff because he was not their choice. Sheesh.....

Re: Fire Gillin
i have no real opinion on the hire. certainly not the "big name" hire so many of our fans dillusional or not wanted. But he is a coordinator that can call his own plays...S Car is pretty darn good this year...can't do anything but give this man a chance. I don't expect next year to be great unless he just goes crazy in the portal and/or can bring some guys from S Car with him. We will see by year 2/3 what kind of coach he really is. I am sure D Gillian did everything he could to hire the best possible candidate. He wouldn't have hired him if he didn't see something special in this guy

That does not mean they will protect him IF it does not work, but more likely the ones who will shovel dirt on him if that time comes.

Re: Fire Gillin
Texas A&M not that long ago went for the big name hire, a guy with a stellar resume, a can’t miss kind of hire. How’d that work out? Not too good, particularly after he was beaten by the Mountaineers.
Jerry Moore was 11-11 at North Texas State and 16-37-2 at Texas Tech. Not what you’d call a stellar resume. How’d he do here?
Give Loggains a chance. He could be Jimbo or he could be Jerry. But right now, he’s a Mountaineer.

This guy is not inheriting Thomas, Hennigan, Sutton, Duck, etc. like Drink.
Football takes a year or two... especially with all our good guys in the portal..

Re: Fire Gillin
This guy will be a bust, it is a terrible hire regardless of how well he can interview. He has a track record, please show me where in that record that he ever won big. Sure, SC is decent this year but it is because the defense keeps them in every game. HIs offenses have been inconsistent. He has mainly been an NFL guy, can he recruit? He spent a lot of years in the NFL and only 1 of the teams he coached finished over 500, only 1! He hasn't won big anywhere. I am so disappointed by this hire. I get that he had an impressive interview, but it shouldn't override his less than stellar resume.
