FB Play By Play 2025

Was just curious about if Witten would be back as the radio play by play guy for 2025? I know the school switched to Playfly this year but didn't know with Adam being a VP with Learfield if that would be a case of conflict of interest or not. Appreciate any insight anyone may have!

Wasn't he hosting the spring game on the field? Can't remember if that was after the Playfly announcement or not

The contract with Learfield runs out June 30th. After that he can’t work for Learfield and call games for App.

There was talk of moving everything “in house”. A year ago or so ? Nothing since.

Witten's not doing his normal social media 100 days countdown, so I think that's the answer.

He really wants to keep doing it and is having a tough time dealing with the reality that his run could be over.

I noticed the same thing. It was one of the reasons I posted this on here to see if my hunch was correct or not.

I know he loves it. Zero doubt on that. Couldn't ask for a much better transition from the great David Jackson to someone else like it has went with Witten. Not saying Witten is better than DJ just meaning that its gone about as smooth as you could ask for. Gotta wonder now if he is not back does that mean that Matt Present becomes the football PxP man since he has basketball so that 1 guy can handle both duties.

Present is a great play by play man on the BB broadcasts. Especially good with no color man. Does it very well by himself. If Witten does not return it should be Present 100%.

I can’t imagine having to follow the legendary David Jackson as the App State football PBP guy, but Witten made the job his own and really excelled at it.
When App was playing away, I preferred to stream Witten…regardless of whether the TV was on or not.

Whoever it is needs a good tag line. I never thought I'd get over "Touchdown Black and Gold" and "Ball game at the Rock". But i grew to love "That's an App State touchdown" too.

I agree but I wonder if they will tell Matt that Brandon Turner will be his color man since its football and we have traditionally always had a PxP and Color with football. Not to mention Sidelines is a whole other deal with football.

He’s outstanding at baseball. I don’t know how his style would transfer to football, but he’s earned the right to be considered.
