The Santa's and Other Appy Critters
The Santa's and Other Appy Critters
What do you guys think.
Two main questions:
Since we can't qualify for the playoffs this season when and if...do we bring out the cleverly painted "Touchdown" Santa and his friends.
After this season do we retire the fun little critters forever or how will they play a part in what has become a fun little part of the ASU culture as we embark on a new journey?

Re: The Santa's and Other Appy Critters
IMO, Santa should not appear before Hallowe'en. After that, he can bring all the touchdowns he wants
I can't see forever retiring one of the happiest creations on earth ...

OK so the plan IYO...would be to keep the critters, and use them for bowl games in the future?Gonzo wrote:Bring him to New Orleans for our Bowl appearance in 2015.
Any thoughts guys?

Had that, done that, and think this might be a plan...whisper in the ole boy's ear and see what he thinks about this.PBR1893-BEER-HAT-GUY wrote:tough call on this subject...i might have to have a few co-colas with td santa and discuss the future...
For the 2013 season, the critters come out once at the Western Game.
After that they come out at least for any bowl appearances and "perhaps" for any late season games against SunBelt teams. Otherwise any use of said critters is a MMB now called Yosef's Cabin, law violation and may be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!
Just for the record, Frosty is getting a face lift and will be the best looking dang snowman on the Liberry Deck for the Western Game.....and rumor has it that Frosty may have just found a mate....it seems a neighbor threw out a Frostette the other day and the ole Colorado just had to stop and pick her up!......much to the chagrin of Mrs. ASUTRNR81.
Ouch!

Re: The Santa's and Other Appy Critters
I SO MUCH AGREE with you. I don't like seeing them ole' said critters out before the playoff game, but it happens every year. People ask me the first home game where my critter is....I tell them, "Chillin' until playoffs". Now, if we do have games Thanksgiving weekend or later, them critters come out and play.... I agree; after Thanksgiving, most likely for the UCLA game. Also, I'd like to see the various critters posted here for review. We have Santa's and Frosty's, it might be cool to see the collection.asutrnr81 wrote:What do you guys think.

We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Everyone bring your cowbells (or other Socon banned artificial noise maker) and storm the field after every victory!asutrnr81 wrote:Since we can't qualify for the playoffs this season...

I think we should storm Elon's field after we beat them on their own turf. That would be quite the sight.moonshine wrote:Everyone bring your cowbells (or other Socon banned artificial noise maker) and storm the field after every victory!asutrnr81 wrote:Since we can't qualify for the playoffs this season...

Re: The Santa's and Other Appy Critters
I completely understand that what I'm about to post may be closely akin to heresy in the minds of some, but in the words of Tom Petty, "I won't back down." In my *master plan" for ASU Athletics, men's basketball will not become a doormat in the Sunbelt. We will be needing a roundball version of these TD Santa characters to make appearances at the Sunbelt BB Tourney at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome or the Hot Springs Summit Arena or wherever the Apps win that next invitation to March Madness in a new, stronger conference. I believe (and pray) that will happen in my lifetime; and I'm not exactly a recent grad.asutrnr81 wrote:What do you guys think.

Will you guys take the steps to make the 3 Point Santa and the windmill dunk Santa appear by the spring of '15? Dunno how much more time I have to enjoy 'em! I'm in a hurry to see this all unfold.

I would say that post season is post season. The critters should come out for any conference championship games or bowl games we might have in our future....at the very least.asutrnr81 wrote:OK so the plan IYO...would be to keep the critters, and use them for bowl games in the future?Gonzo wrote:Bring him to New Orleans for our Bowl appearance in 2015.

Re: The Santa's and Other Appy Critters
You got it...I already started making plans for the basketball tourney when we get to the Sunbelt. I just "acquired" and extra frosty so might as well get him started on the basketball theme. I like the idea! He may even have to make an APPearance at the last SoCon....in Asheville. Heck he'd fit right in with that Asheville crowd!asu66 wrote:I completely understand that what I'm about to post may be closely akin to heresy in the minds of some, but in the words of Tom Petty, "I won't back down."
