Re: Swann starter
Oh great, so we still don't know. It's not like we have a game in 9 days or anything. And please don't come with the "surprise UNCC" by not naming a starter. The very fact that it is our Head Coaches first time in a game and none of our playmakers return on offense makes me think there are plenty enough surprises for UNCC already. Clearly I am just impatient.

Re: Swann starter
For me, in the simplest terms, it revolves around interest. We are coming off our worst season in years, have a brand new first time coach, completely new staff, many first timers in their new positions, 50 new players and hardly any known playmakers on offense returning. Couple in the issues of NIL, portal, pay for play, etc and many fans have lost interest in what was once a passion. I really think something as simple as a 2 deep (9 days before our first game) would go a long way to building interest and excitement in the rapidly approaching season. I realize that it matters nothing in the big scheme of things and will make no impact on the game, but as fan I really needed some nuggets to maintain my interest this off season and sadly none were given. So yeah, its a personal issue for me and I get that. I just spent most of my adult life very interested in all things App State but especially the football team (and wrestling team) and now I find that interest declining and it bothers me. I am hopeful that some more information would rekindle the passion. Sorry for the lengthy explanation but that is were I find myself and I suspect others do to.

I am highly suspicious of this account. Broken link in the bio. Joined August 2025. Fake looking picture and nothing on Google with this dude's name.
I bet this ends up being true, but better sources are saying the QB battle is still raging. I hope and expect that it's just coach speak and DL knows damn well who the starter is, but he's keeping the cards close to his chest to facilitate more competition among the QBs and force UNCc to study more film.

I agree with points on both sides. Looking back those position updates that (I believe) Pierre Banks used to do would be awesome now. As far as the film aspect goes what exactly would UNCC glean from any film? Watching a player here and there, many of whom barely played at his last stop? No matter which quarterback is chosen I seriously doubt any opponent will get some advantage especially the guys we have. The top secret stuff gets really ridiculous.

I can appreciate other's perspective. It does not play into increasing or decreasing my interest. I feel the coaches will make the best decision. In addition, I like the idea of competing until the last possible point in time ...which is more often times game week. However, given we know relatively nothing about how any of these QBs will do in extended live action under this new offensive system, does not add any value to met4pizza wrote: ↑Wed Aug 20, 2025 2:47 pmFor me, in the simplest terms, it revolves around interest. Seems we are similar to two years ago...Burger or joey Dimes...no clue who will be the guy until they are under live action.

Re: Swann starter
Correct take. Who cares. We - the fans - will know who the starter is in 10 days when he’s standing under center.

Starting to think a couple things. May be way off, but who knows. Maybe Kohl is a situational run option.
Maybe the competition is actually Gillon. And starting a true freshman over the more experienced guys would be shocking so we better damn we’ll be sure. And most likely we go with experience, but we want to allow for as much opportunity to compete as we can.

Re: Swann starter
Not calling you out but I think we have a lot of people overthinking this. Everyone has to keep in mind that coaches are not going to tell the complete truth to the media, even off the record at times, and to the general public. I know times where coaches have said they named a player captain because they thought the player needed it when the team did not actually vote for that player as an example.CharlotteApp05 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 1:31 amStarting to think a couple things. We pay Loggains a lot of money to figure this stuff out. Loggains knows who he is planning to go with already. Like someone said on 247, Loggains is just holding his cards close to the vest. I bet at least the offensive players know who the starter will be. Unless Loggains says so publicly, we will know for sure on the 29th and that is just about a week away. It is not that long of a wait.
