Looking Ahead- Lindenwood

And you thought Charlotte was bad?
Lindenwood was soundly beaten by the St. Thomas Tommies, a team they beat 64-0 last year in front of just over 3500 fans last Thursday night. They missed three field goals in the first quarter. It was only the fifth time in St.Thomas history that their quarterback threw for over 100 yards (174) in a season opener.
Maybe there will be some value in playing them. At least we should be healthy and rested for Game 3. Side note- Lindenwood is scheduled to play at Minnesota in 2027.

We as fans may not know what we have but a tune up game like this is not a bad thing. The coaches will see how players perform in live game action and back ups will get reps in a no pressure scenario.

They lost to G-Webb by 7 last year and we know those running bulldogs are tough!

Good timing to be missing a couple D players for the first half at least.

There may be reasons and I get that but what on earth could have gotten this game scheduled?

The St. Thomas Tommies…taking the art of mascot creation to a whole new depth of apathy and laziness.

St Thomas is in the non-Scholly Pioneer League. That is like losing to Davidson in football.

Never take anyone for granted. Ask Michigan circa 2007.

Playing weak opponents can instill bad habits. Slower , less physical athletes allow you to get by with things that will get you smoked by a peer. It’s a real challenge to the coaching staff .

Last season Lindenwood beat Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, South East Missouri, Charleston Southern, and St Thomas...and lost to Kansas 48-3. So not an impressive resume but still they aren't a pushover. Now losing to St Thomas this year may show that this team could be a dumpster fire. Either way, this team is not even close to our 2007 team talent and should be an easy win. This isn't the first game of the season for us, we already took it to UNCC, and Lindenwood has already fallen. I see no reason we can't use this as a scrimmage.

For me I think these days it’s completely pointless to use the prior year results as a gauge for any team this year unless they were really good or really bad and either return a bulk of their starters or in the case of most D1 teams lost most of their starters. Some wanted to speculate about our team going into last Friday night but really nobody knew anything. Hopefully we have no injuries and the starters are done at half time and the second and thirds get meaningful play in the second half to include actual plays and not just up the gut runs to drain the clock. If we get a huge lead I don’t advocate bombs over Baghdad but a certain amount of passing should be expected. How much are we paying these guys? Long trip indeed.

Great opportunity to get a lot of players on the field. As the season wears on we will look back on this opportunity to strengthen our depth.

Your point is valid but totally different set of circumstances. We wouldn't be taking SDSU or NDSU or any other top FCS lightly, but they are a far cry from that. Yes they are FCS, but just barely and they are not a good team. Sure the ball can bounce funny but no way we lose to this team.
