Wake Forest

Has anyone heard a rumor on if they ever intend on fulfilling their contractual obligation?

They owe us one in WS and I believe one at KBS from the Covid cowardice.

unofficially, they won't honor the agreement.
officially, they scared. We're weaker now than we have been in 25 years, and they still scared.

It does not behoove any ACC team to play any team from a lower conference let alone one that would possibly beat them. Just ask NC State why they would not come to Boone last year. You may not like UNC-Ch or Miami, but they did both come to Kidd Brewer.

And yet we play NC State this year and in '28. May not behoove them, but they see some value in playing App, as they should. We just have to prove our value with a turnaround in performance soon.

Wouldn’t hold my breath on ‘28.

They’ve shown cowardice before. Luckily we get $2MM if they go the coward way.

Yes all props to unc for actually playing the game. Miami we had bent over the barrel.

But ultimately Miami came to Boone and bent us over a barrel in one of the largest crowds in Kidd Brewery history. Ouch!! It started as a beautiful day and then turned into a painful experience. I hate those bubble screen passes to this day. Never could stop them all day long.

I'm optimistic given the proposal of house bill 965 mandating regular matchups for in state universities in football and basketball.

Does it require home and home? or just "regular matchups" at any place? They will say, yea, we will play you at our house, not yours (App).

Not sure of home and home status, but the fact that there is a push to at least keep up with playing in state teams is encouraging. One of the original posters mentioned it didnt behoove ACC teams to play any lesser school, but if the state of NC sees fit to help push forward the public universities of this state to keep connection, I'm down with it.

Heck yeah, just what the sport needs as interest is trending down, let's go ahead and add in zero chance of upsets!! Our games against Chapel Hill were excessively boring so I get why they don't want to play those. The Penn St, Miami (2.0), Texas A&M, and Tennessee games were also really boring. Let's just take away all those.

Listening to the AppState podcast the other day, Gillin did mention that they would be announcing another BOA game in September. Wonder if State game might move there or if it'll be someone not on our future schedules? Anyone?

My guess would be 2030 vs UNCC for another Dukes Mayo Classic. It’s a total guess from me but two reasons I say that are - 1. Dukes usually likes to announce future games the week of kick-off and 2. The 2030 game on the future schedules list is listed as TBA where the others have a set date.

Y’all think Lindenwood would accept an invite to this game?

Too risky to be honest, I’d decline that if I was App haha.

I took from the podcast with the AD is that there is less likely chance of Power teams coming to Boone especially if all Power conferences go to 9 game conference schedules... and we will try to schedule away "money" games when and if we can. He mentioned South Carolina coming to Boone. I do not believe he mentioned NC State. However, I was multi-tasking and could have missed the State reference if he did mention State.

And yet they were calling (coincidentally I’m sure) right after we beat TAMu to move the game. Switched our game to what at the time was one of the worst programs in the country and acted like it was for “strength of schedule” reasons. This from a program that hasn’t won the Acc for nigh on 50 years and hasn’t sniffed a conference championship, much less a playoff berth in the post bcs era.

We can plan on this big announcement being followed by an even bigger announcement:

The first annual
High Country Polka Music Festival!
:star proudly produced by App State Athletics :star

Don’t laugh yet; given how Gillin's past concert production efforts have tanked, the polka angle might actually draw more fans.
