Re: Roster Updates
I know Walkons have done great things in the past. Do the coaches express surprise at any of the ones we've picked up the past couple of years?

People who have followed Will Hardin's high school career say he's a quality grab for us.

Re: Roster Updates
I thought we had another walk-on DL player, Elijah Diarrassouba, from Greensboro (Page). Any word on him Moose?

Re: Roster Updates
We'll see where Vinson winds up. He was, as boonetown said, a three star LB. We had a lot of guys at that position and we needed another blocking TE/HB after Bailey graduated but he left the team before last season. I looked in from time to time and saw he was still listed in school here. Looks like football was still in the blood for him. We've moved some guys into the HB role since he left and some of our LB's have moved to DE so it'll be interesting to watch and see where he lands. Very strong guy and I'm glad to get him back in any position.Yosef10 wrote:I remember the name but what's the background on him?boonetown1 wrote:Returning george vinson...hell yeah, big time baller

Re: Roster Updates
I heard the same things said when he agreed to come here. And on a related note three of the OL's listed have at least some center experience that I saw in their film including Appling, who was the shotgun center for Shelby. All of them aren't that far off in the last weights I have for them and we let Shawn and Iron Mike get with them we might find some much needed help and maybe even some diamonds. Right now we'll take all the help we can get on both lines, backers, and special teams.AppGrad78 wrote:People who have followed Will Hardin's high school career say he's a quality grab for us.

Re: Roster Updates
It sounds like we are in serious need of OL players who can play now. At this level you can't expect to survive with just one set across the front but rather you have to have at least two deep day one. You have to expect to lose some throughout the season. i get the feeling we may not even have a whole O line set. We need several young studs on OL to step up quick.

Re: Roster Updates
Couple of additions with more PWO's reporting. And some of the ones I listed in the last update have their new height/weight listed now. I'll list the additions (including their last known height/weight like last time) first then I'll update the previous ones that have changed, listing the previous height/weight and the new stats. Two notes-Diarrassouba was listed out of HS as a WSDE/OLB but word from camp is that he's been working at nose. And Romonowski was listed as a LS/FB. I didn't see any film of him kicking so I'm betting the listing will be changed. We'll see when they post the updates for these two.

Re: Roster Updates
The red is what they were listed in the HS film packages, as Rek said. I just bolded it the last time but wanted to make it stand out more. As to the differences, this was one of the reasons I wanted to list them. Just take a look at the other thread discussing ratings on sites. Although I list the most up to date info I can find on recruits when we offer them I take most of them with a grain of salt unless it's a verified listing from one of the Opening events, where they do measurements before workouts. A lot of the guys did increase in weight with Mike's program he sent to them for the summer but those current ones are our own measurements.bigdaddyg wrote:What does that mean (above)? Red writing?

Re: Roster Updates
Does Diarrassouba have the frame to add the 40+ pounds he needs to play nose or is that just something they're doing to get him some reps and the other guys a break while Fernandez splits time?

Re: Roster Updates
From all I've heard they do believe he has the frame to get to the Stout/Burns level of weight. He's not going to be a 300+ lb guy but we like to mix up the road graders with the lighter, quicker guys to give different looks. But we've got to find some of the bigger guys or we'll be playing much more of the lighter ones in future years. Not an easy task to be sure, finding DT recruits that have both the 280+ size coming out of HS, the talent to play the nose position, and the grades to get into App. Proving to be difficult these last two years.TheMackAttack wrote:Does Diarrassouba have the frame to add the 40+ pounds he needs to play nose or is that just something they're doing to get him some reps and the other guys a break while Fernandez splits time?

Re: Roster Updates
Logan Wright sure seems to have the measurements to be a beast on the O-Line, any report that he has the skill and footwork to go along with all that mass?
“When you take that field today, you've got to lay that heart on the line, men. From the souls of your feet, with every ounce of blood you've got in your body, lay it on the line until the final whistle blows.”
