With Blackmon going down with injury, the defense has a need. With the loss of Rizor, maybe we have an extra scholly. The downsides are that he'll probably be gone after this season and he may go the way of Woazeah.

@BFeldmanCBS: If Tyrann Mathieu became ineligible bc of a 3rd failed drug test, he will not be able to play this yr at another NCAA school.

I guess for the smokey badger to find his way to a JUCO/NAIA/HBCU team since he can't play at another NCAA school at any level.

If he were eligible, there is no downside to go after a Heisman Trophy finalist from last year.

He will be around Boone, NC and the program for 6 months -- hard to get into a whole lot of trouble in that time frame.

Nobody is going to look down on us if we pursue the honey badger.

No, because none of our players have gotten into trouble recently.

There is a report from some SBNation blogger that he is headed to McNeese State. I have read several reports that said it was the 3rd failed drug test but only the one saying he was going to McST. If the 3rd failed test is true then he can't play at any NCAA school at any level. NAIA or JUCO would be the only routes for this year. Guess we'll just have to see which is true.

Regardless, though he is a quality player (quality person might be another matter) and we could use all the secondary help we can get I still think we've had enough problems these past couple of years. LSU must have given this kid multiple chances, he had the world in front of him, and he blew it. Hopefully he'll learn a life lesson from all this and get his head on straight.

Former LSU cornerback and 2011 Heisman Trophy finalist Tyrann Mathieu is considering enrolling at McNeese State, a source told ESPN on Saturday.

Any way you slice it, a guy that is kicked off LSU for school and team violations is not someone ASU wants on our team, Period.

He has trouble written all over him and we have had too much recently.

Be smart stay away.

Let's rent him for a few months, after the season release him, his eligibility is done, send him to the pros and let them worry about him. I agree he is an idiot to cost himself more money in one pro seaon than any of us will make in a lifetime.

In a way we would be selling our soul to the devil, becuase it would be way out of custom for Moore to go after a known double barrelled idiot. As a pipe dream, it would be nice to see that known level of top 5 draft talent for a season. You really think he would have time to get into stupid in a fall semester of football? I'd think thast would be all any school would see him enrolled if he is expected to get drafted in the position we've been reading.

He sounds like the kind who could get into trouble his first day in Boone.
