Favorite part of Montana Game

Unread post by HighPointApp » Sun Sep 09, 2012 4:07 pm

After listening to the game last night(ESPN3.com not working) and watching the game today on ESPN3.com (now working), I thought the best parts of the game were the score and then the fan support at the game. But the order changed when I saw the team prayer in the middle of the field after the game. Brought tears to my eyes and chills up my spine. I'm proud of all of the players who took a knee and humbled themselves.

The purpose of this post is not to start a religious debate but to express my gratitude to the team for their open display of prayer. Go Apps!

Henry Barnes's hit on the kickoff return.

My favorite part happened off the field. Walking back to our car after the game, my son and I struck up a conversation with a couple of Griz fans. When we parted, one of the guys gave my son his Montana hat. Now that was classy!

My favorite parts were the 21-7 lead in the first quarter, and the final score. Took years of coming for us to beat Montana finally. Kind of getting something off our backs. Doesn't help the two previous playoff losses to them, but we don't have many wins against teams West of the Mississippi as has been pointed out. Don't play that many teams West of the Mississippi, but this was a win to remember for a lifetime. Thanks App football players and coaches. We appreciate last night.

I loved Fisher's reception! Love to see those big guys carry the ball.

Didn't love: The Flag corps waving PURPLE flags during the half time show. WTH was up with THAT? Should never happen! Never want to see those flags again. Somebody needs to explain that faux pas to the new band director. Send them back and get a refund!

He ran for the first down and then went to the ground ASAP. He didn't try to be a hero.

No doubt. That blew the lid off the joint in the stands.

Finally, something to use to counter the Cline hit video in 2009. ;)

Figured the field reached up and grabbed him. Kind of said whoa, you're not suppossed to be doing that.

I wouldn't say the hit was anything too close to the hit Cline took from Thompson....... However, our guy coughed up the ball and Cline didn't..... He was one tough stud to take that hit and continue to play.... We were in the stands and when he jogged off the field under his own power we were like "Wow".... Then when he came back out and played we were like..... Double "Wow"

Definately a textbook example of how to knock the ball outa' the runners hands though..... Huge in the final outcome...

I asked someone when they came in with those purple flags rolled up if the Western Carolina band had come to our game after they played Marshall yesterday.

Also it appeared the three male members of the flag corp were just dressed in a black shirt, while the female members had a top/skirt sort of combo with a yellow stripe cutting diagonal across the front. I don't expect the guys to wear the skirt, but get 'em a shirt that has the same basic yellow stripe so they match a bit better to the rest of the squad.

I did not even notice the purple, or if I did I did not think anything of it. I feel bad I did not notice the purple. I usually do in a second.

How on earth did you miss it? It was an offense to the eye and stuck out like a sore thumb! Everybody near where I was sitting commented on what they hell was going on with that.

A great game! I liked the students. They packed the west stands and the endzone an hour before kickoff and stayed until the team left the field. Their spirit was fantastic and their antics shown on the video board kept you rolling. I can't wait for next Saturday.

I really was watching the show, and at one time or the other I took in the band, flag corps, and baton twirlers. I do kinda remember some purple in the flags when they were all leaning against the metal fence in the northeast corner of the stands. At least I think I remember that.

Now that I know the end result, my favorite part of watching the replay today was the Griz running back Moore. Good lord... Only comparable player I've seen like him was Jerome Felton from Furman. Moore is way more agile though

My favorite part of the game was the game. Two young, good football teams playing their hearts out for 60 minutes. The best part of the day, for me, happened long before kickoff. I don't get up to Boone for many games, so when I do, I go early. I was walking around campus around 11:00 or so and while wondering the Stadium lot, I find JJ playing catch with a kid probably around 7 or 8. I'm sure that was the highlight of his day, as it was mine.

Moore was a beast. I loved watching J Kim get PO'd after missing him and getting run over by him a couple of times. Did you see Moore's first big screen run where JK pushed him out of bounds? Moore punched him in the head. Was not a stiff arm. He switched the ball to his left hand, pulled back his arm and, with a closed fist, punched JK right in the head. I said to myself this guy is going to be a load right then. To be honest it should have been called as it was not even close to a stiff arm but what can you do. JK and the D clamped down on him in the 2nd half (minus the one oops of a screen). If we play them again this year or before next years game I might have to find a really pretty girl with mono to send to him. Just as a good luck gift. :D

I saw this live and also thought it was great. Our GRIZ do the same thing. How special would that have been if both teams joined in together?

In regards to the stiff arm, I thought I saw that but was from the other side of the field. Also, I thought the new rule on hurdling should have been called, you are not supposed to be able to lead with a foot extended. Several pictures show Moore doing this.
