Nate Woody to Army?
I heard from a semi reliable source that Woody may be joining Monken as the Army DC. Anything to this?

FWIW, According to Football Scoop as of yesterday:
"Ball State: Defensive coordinator Jay Bateman is expected to take the same position at Army according to Bruce Feldman."

He did interview but the job was filled.
Sometimes you get called to interview instead of reaching out yourself. Normally when you get those calls, you do the interview our of courtesy.

Now you know what I couldn't say all week and why I had a praying smilie as my avatar the whole time. I said there was a reason for it, I just couldn't say what it was. Heard the same as T-Dog posted. He was asked, just like Ayers, Horton, etc, were for the GaSOU job.

Honestly don't believe so, at least in the case of the two being mentioned the most. I've been seeing tweets from them for a long time before this Army thing came up. Both appeared to be non football related problems, based on their tweets, but they are still in school for this semester and still on the roster right now. We'll know when spring ball rolls around.App95 wrote:Was this the cause of the other rumor that some defensive players are leaving the team?

two things that seems to happen at the FBS level is recruiting is much more cut throat, and coaches are always looking for the next job. Yesterday I was talking to a friend of mine, a big Florida State fan, they just lost there DC to Georgia, doesn't make alot of sense, they would match Georgia in salary, he has the best defense in the country returning, a great recruiting class, got along great with the other coaches and the fans loved him, yet, it came as a total shock by leaving after only one year. The point is, there doesn't seem to be alot of "rhyme or reason" why alot of coaches suddenly pick up and leave. I guess I shouldn't be surprised if Woody is already starting look around, and start to see whats out there.

I believe in Nate Woody. I hope he believes in Appalachian State.
I agree 100% with you...I believe in Nate Woody
I do believe he will stay a while, unless there is something real BAD inside .....he does not have a history of moving ....and moving a family that is not used to moving a lot can cause problems

Don't blame any coach for looking for the next job, and I hope that's a continuing issue for App because otherwise it means we probably aren't winning much. However, in this case, I don't really see Army as a move up, especially for a DC. Glad Woody apparently felt the same.

Except it would likely have doubled his salary.EastHallApp wrote:Don't blame any coach for looking for the next job, and I hope that's a continuing issue for App because otherwise it means we probably aren't winning much. Re: Nate Woody to Army?
But, they DIDN'T match Georgia in salary and/or he (Pruitt) might rather work for Richt instead of Fisher. Regardless, it was about a $300,000 raise for him. That's a pretty good reason in my book.moehler wrote:.... talking to a friend of mine, a big Florida State fan, they just lost there DC to Georgia, doesn't make a lot of sense, they would match Georgia in salary, he has the best defense in the country returning, a great recruiting class, got along great with the other coaches and the fans loved him, yet, it came as a total shock by leaving after only one year. If Army had made the offer, it might have been difficult for Woody to turn down an extra $50,000-$100,000.
It's all about the money. That's the reason 95% of the time.
Re: Nate Woody to Army?
FSU AD was quoated today in the press that they matched Gerogia's offer of 850,00.00 for Praitt...so I guess money wasn't the issue. They still don't have a clue why he is leaving.

Surprised to hear that, honestly. How do App's coaches' salaries compare with other Sun Belt programs?

I thought he said, after the fact, they "were willing" to match the offer. I didn't think they actually did, since Pruitt never went back to give them the opportunity to do so. He saw the big raise, said he very much liked Richt and the UGA staff, and jumped without looking back.
Sort of a minor point I suppose, since it must have been "money" + "something else also"

Re: Nate Woody to Army?
That's the word around Tallahassee. Pruitt was said to be engaged, but also to have another female "friend", and the fiance effectively said "make the move, or I'm moving on without you." Does not seem to be supported with any real evidence like the Bobby P photos, motorcycle wreck, employment records, etc., but that's the rumor on the street from ticked off FSU fans.huskie3 wrote:I heard it was a Bobby P type situation.
