WCYB had a story last night that Bristol Motor Speedway had talked with ETSU about playing a game there. They specifically mentioned Appalachian State as a possible opponent. Would it be worth giving up a home game to get the publicity that would come with playing there?

NO! That would be worse than playing basketball in a football dome arena, toooooo far from playing area.

The story didn't specify if it would be an undercard to the VT/UT game or if would be a stand-alone event. It was short on any details. I just thought it was interesting that they specifically mentioned App as the team ETSU would want to play.

Sorry - I was just referring to it (undercard) in general terms not on the same day ----

I'm totally against this in all regards. We've been talking for years about getting rid of and relocating the track.

It might create some buzz but I don't like the idea.

Sounds good, sign a two for one deal where the one is at Bristol.
We should certainly get them to Boone as they traveled well in the past.

It is should be many moons from now when we play this start-up FCS program anywhere but at The Rock and even that should be a few years down the road. I know there is history between the programs but we should try to stay away from FCS games unless it is just to fill a vacant home slot.

As in most decisions, it will come down to one thing: $$$$. Pay us $1M for the game, on ESPN, primetime and, yeah, I think the admin would be all over it. I not saying they should, but reality is what it is.

Playing an FCS team at a neutral site in a venue that could be 90 percent empty? Now THIS is why we moved up to FBS!

I would not give up a game in Boone for any reason that anyone could come up with. As far as playing at a facility that is not a collage stadium, I am not interested in that either.

Bruton will make sure that it is NOT 90% empty, you can bet on that. I think this would be incredible exposure because Bruton is the moderm PT Barnum, he does nothing small!

I'm perfectly fine with playing ETSU on a semi-regular basis in Boone, but going to Bristol would have to be worth it financially to the tune of seven figures.

I hope we as a University never get so caught up in our new D1 football classification and or program tradition that we make poor business decisions. That's a recipe for certain disaster. If those trusted with making these decisions decide it's in our best interests to play ETSU in Bristol, I am inclined to trust them.
