Tailgating Help

This next year I will have both my sons at App State. I am going to take at least a year off from Clemson Tiger tailgating for App State tailgating. We have done a game or so the last three years but are going for the whole season. Where is the best place to purchase an App State tent, chairs, and a large cooler? Thanks or the help.
Go Mountaineers!

The App bookstore has those items, although there is a markup.
Sports Mania at the Boone Mall has some stuff. Wal Mart also does, but most of their stuff has the old logo.
I'd call some places first before buying.

Maybe Yosefgear.com
I haven't bought anything from them in a couple of years, but I had good experiences with them in the past.

Glad you're coming up the mountain for the whole season. If you haven't joined the Yosef Club yet, I'd encourage you to do that at least to the level that gets festival parking in the Library Deck or the Rivers Street Deck. I know that can be tough with two in school, too.
I've gotten stuff from the bookstore and yosefgear.com and have been pleased with both. App is really young in the branding business, so there's not as much "stuff" out there yet as I'd like to see. I know they're working on branding the Block A a bit better. I made my own App cooler by getting an ordinary Coleman cooler and covering it with App duct tape. Looks ok for homemade.
Only 125 days to kickoff!

Congrats on having both at App, I have two girls at App for one more year.
You can look at a the places that others have already stated, but surprisingly the more general "college" sites have some hard to find App gear as well. I found my 3 national champs flag at a online banner site, for example.
Amazon, ebay, are also great sources.
We always check the bookstore and the mall when we're up,for the more standard items (tents, chairs, etc), but sometimes google is your best friend when looking for app gear.
Who would have thought that you could find APPState boots on Amazon?

Sports Fanatic in Boone Mall has quite a bit. They also have a store in Mooresville, NC. Boone Walmart carries App gear, but it is hit or miss on the selection, more available at the start of football season. I have heard that the Sam's club in Hickory carries some stuff as well.

the sports fanatic in the Mall is the best I've found when I come up from Florida, always has a large selection in common items such as hats, shirts etc. and they also have a selection of unique items such as paintings, mugs etc. I don't know how many games you have attended in the last few years, but even though App's tailgating isn't on the level of Clemson I'm always pleasantly surprised when I come up for a game, tents and grills as far as the eye can see, pretty confident our tailgating was one of the best, if not the best in the FCS, and can hold its own against alot of FBS programs. You picked a great time to attend a season's worth of home games, with the move up should be a really exciting time on the mountain this fall.

There are 3-4 stores on King Street that sell any style of App gear you could imagine. Car stickers and accessories too, although you might have to get a tent online.

Looks like '56 shops for App gear at the same places I do. I get a lot of my apparel at the Bookstore and Sports Fanatic at the Mall. I bought my tailgating tent and 2 side panels from Amazon. And don't forget your flagpole from

You can DIY your own flagpole. I bought a telescopic painters pole at Home Depot ($40), and it also happened to be black and yellow to boot. I drilled holes through the top telescoped pole, and bought clips ($2-5) that slide through the holes or the flag and in the pole. All you need then is the wheel base, which you can purchase or DIY. I had an old metal pipe and flat piece of metal that a buddy of mine welded together. The flagpole slides into the old pipe, and we're good. Out-of-pocket cost was roughly $50.
PM me for more info.
Thanks for e advice everyone.....

....You are making me feel real welcome. I have already got an idea for an App Pirate Flag. I am looking forward to the season. I did increase my Yosef dues to get in a parking lot (it is much cheaper than IPTAY dues at Clemson). Need room for the Sat Dish, TV, generator, and grill. I like the idea of making my own cooler. I'll get started on the rest of the gear!

I don't have a pic of the base, but it can basically be any piece of flat metal that you can pull your tire over. I'll look for other pics, or take some to post. Below is a pic of most of the pole:
Actually, here's a pic where you can kind of see the base:
The pole, when fully extended is about 24' tall. Sometimes we lower it a bit if it's really windy. As you can see, the top extension will only hold two 3'x5' flags. So, if you have three flag you'd have to drill into the middle extension, but that shouldn't be an issue.

Google "Appalachian State tailgate tent" and click the Shopping tab under the search bar at the top of the page. Easy way to comparison shop online.

I'm trying to work up a App Pirate/Parrot/Palm tree flag that would work for Jimmy Buffett and APP games. To go with the sign my daughter made that I have as my signature on here.

I work at Sports Fanatic in the Boone Mall. Thats just about the only place you can get a tent in a retail store anymore. We have chairs, soft sided coolers, trash cans and other accessories as well.
For a flagpole, you can go the DIY way, or you can visit wonderpole.com, it has a couple different sizes of flagpoles, such as the popular 21' pole, and my preference, the 40' version, that really can sustain the Boone wind.
