Bryant named starter

was listening to SS today, and he has already named Bryant his starting qb for the upcoming season, not surprise Bryant would be the starter, but am surprised he is named the qb before the fall camp even begins, I would have thought Lamb, or even Carouso would atleast have the chance to win the position, things could change, maybe one plays so well in camp, SS reevaluates his starter, but really surprised he would come out today and name his starter.

He may just be trying to give his returning QB some confidence and possibly put less pressure on the other guys to spend all their time trying to out perform Bryant instead of just focusing on getting better. I think its probably a "coach talk" kind of move.

ya, you might be right, but it could backfire, I could see where a player want to feel they have a shot to atleast compete for the positon. Might not be a big deal, Carouso is a true freshman, odds were against him winning the job, no matter how talented, and Lamb has dealt with alot of injuries, and missed Spring Camp, just alittle surprised by the timing

Confidence builder!!! --- + he earned it with his play last season - things can change as I am sure Coach Satterfield wants to win more than any of us ---

Yes a confidence builder. How would Bryant have felt if Satt had gone in to fall camp without naming a starting after his play last year? I agree he did earn it. I just think this is Satt showing confidence in his QB going in to their first season in the FBS and making sure the team has the stability of knowing who is going to be throwing them the ball in game 1. Showing good play doesn't mean that the coach can't still try to boost his confidence.

Kam is the clear cut starter, and is already more of a leader than JJ was going into last season. That might ruffle some feathers, but that is how I feel. You don't put the kid on your poster for fun. Some forget that Kam broke Armanti's completion percentage record last year without getting the bulk of the snaps in fall camp.

And he only threw like what, 4 picks? Maybe his arm strength has improved in the offseason too. I hope we can redshirt Caruso.

I've said for 3 years now that Kam is a great QB and an even better person. I'm glad to see Big C agreeing with me.
He is someone I'm proud to have attending and representing our school. Spend 5 minutes with him and I'm confident you too will agree.

It's July 2 and that trip to Ann Arbor is still light years away. A lot can happen between now and Labor Day weekend. Scott and all of our experienced players know that. We, as fans, know that all too well. Let's hope that all of our players maintain better focus on citizenship, academics and football than in recent seasons; and that the injury bug stays well away from KBS.

Dear Kam,
Please do not operate a lawn mower this summer.
Thanks in advance,
Brocktune

Exactly! He is building Bryant's confidence and creating "stability" for the team. Clearly, if the situation merits a mid-season change, the change should be made but I can't imagine going into
Ann Arbor behind a QB who has never thrown a college pass. Trey Elder was named the QB in 2006 also. To me the decision makes sense. We don't need Fall camp to be a feeding frenzy. The team needs to be behind Bryant. I seriously doubt that Lamb or Caruso need media announcements to keep them motivated.

Ha the "lawnmower incident" that made for a great coverup story. It got us on ESPN's front page for about half a day. I'm just hoping no one throws anyone through the window at Flipside in a drunken brawl.
Does anyone know what kind of character building stuff Satt does with our guys if any? I know a lot of coaches around the country do their own things. I'm guess he does something with our guys or at least our rookies.

Good thing Flipside isn't around anymore, although Tapp has those same windows, although if Kam isn't 21, he isn't getting in anywhere not named Parthenon that late.

The Dike will let him in. Assuming he's wearing croakies and brings some blow.

Bingo!
There's so much more to winning games than what any of us see on Saturday. From the outside looking in it does seem the coaches are better connected to each other and the players this year. Perhaps that's having landed in a conference or having more Satterfield era recruits or any other combination of things. I'm excited for the opportunities of this season.

There was a small, seedy group of players in the last couple to three years of Coach Moore's tenure. Not saying it was anyone's fault.
Don't know how they got here, but I'm glad they are gone and I think this staff has weeded them out one by one.
