I hate to contribute to a Cline troll thread, but I think the better question is why are we paying them a quarter million? That probably doubled their athletic budget.

Were the questions called troll threads when members on here raised holy hell when we played Lenoir-Rhyne in KBS or Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs?

It's a reasonable question. Too bad you jumped to your usual snark to discredit someone else on this message board. It gets tiresome.

The short answer is Campbell is the only FBS or FCS program willing to come to Boone on this particular Saturday.

The long answer begs the question of why are our home schedules in almost all our sports less than appealing? Outside of the baseball program, I can't name an ASU sport that has had an appealing, competitive home schedule in the last 8-10 years. I'm not picking on Jay Sutton, either. He primarily works on the football schedule, which as we all know will be much improved in 2015. Our other schedules are more a collaboration between the head coach and our athletic director. I wonder if the negative reputation of our departed athletic director has had a bearing on our poor home schedules? Or are there other reasons we're having trouble getting quality opponents to come to Boone?

2015 breaks the trend.

And I'd like to pose my original question to you, since you are a real journalist and all. Do you think someone at Campbell is a real hardballer? How typical is it for a PL school to rake in such a pay day? Were we just that late in filling this date that we were at their mercy?

If you could leave out any of your usual personal attacks that would be great too.

YOU are accusing 78 of launching a personal attack? That's rich.  You had to have been being sarcastic.

I am aware there were some internal matters and some questionable decisions made by Cobb. I just can't imagine any of it would have made a difference to football scheduling. After all, he did bring in Montana and McNeese.

I will go with other reasons.

Get off your soapbox you know his intentions. His trolling is tiresome. It was a reasonable question 6 months ago...

Everyone that has read the board knows why. Timing of the move and schedule. Look at the 2015 schedule released 15 months before the season vs. six we've had in the past.

Unless I am mixing up the years, this game was part of the fallout from canceling the McNeese State series. App was originally scheduled to travel to Lake Charles and play McNeese this season, but the contract had a clause that it could be canceled if either school moved to the FBS level.

Once App announced the move, they canceled the series and decided to replace it with a home game since the trip to Michigan was already scheduled. It was relatively short notice, which likely played a part in the larger than usual payout to Campbell.

Has anyone heard if there are any soon to be announced home and home series coming up? It seems like everyday other schools in the SBC are scheduling home and home series but I have not heard of any regarding App in months.

Don't worry J C. You can always ride over to Cullowhee and watch your beloved Catamounts play Brevard.

Forgive me. I was just letting off steam because this is one of the few Saturdays this Fall that my son doesn't have a soccer game and my choice is to see a non-scholarship start up program. It doesn't have a damn thing to do with trolling. However, when we played Mars Hill, Lenoir-Rhyne, Morehead State, etc, it was said to be because Moore was padding the schedule.
