Nice. I'm surprised ULL's attendance wasn't higher, what with their expectations and against an in-state rival, and all. And, if there were anywhere close to 10,000 people in the Georgia Dome yesterday, they must have been counting the folks that drove by. I don't think they could've completely filled up one section of seats, based on what I saw.

Nice. We played a small name opponent that looks as if they brought no fans with them. It was a less than favorable weather forecast and we still outdrew the other schools. I only wish I could have been there to make it 25,862.

Campbell actually brought a good amount of fans... Pretty much filled up one of the lower sections... Easily spotted wearing "humpday" orange... BTW, I hope our fan base will ALWAYS welcome our visitors and treat them well. That's the right thing to do and them being there adds $$$ to OUR pot.

I was very impressed with the Campbell fan base and their turnout. Sitting next to me was a 93 year old Campbell fan! Hats off to him.

The northern section on the east side looked empty. I thought that is where the visitors sat. Did they move the visitor seats or was there enough room to move closer to the middle?

The composite numbers for the Sun Belt are a little lower than I expected. App State and Ga Southern had solid crowds and ULM had a respectable reported crowd (compared to expectations), but ULL (hosting an in-state rival) and Troy (hosting Duke) were under my expectations.
It would be interesting to compare the Sun Belt's average attendance this week to the other G5 conferences.
For a quick look at last year's conference, SoCon attendance was respectable yesterday based on expectations. I expect that Chattanooga, Furman and Citadel will be the top 3 attendance teams in the SoCon this year:
Chattanooga (vs Jacksonville St) 14,285
Furman (vs Mercer) 12,227
WCU (vs Brevard) 8,929

Mercer was the home team. I switched over to that game for a few minutes during the weather delay. Good showing for the Bears.

I was trying to think of a P5 equivalent that would travel to KBS in from out of the area, much like Duke going to Troy. I settled on Vanderbilt. How many tickets could we sell for a home game with Vandy? I suspect they'd cap sales at 35,000. Troy is facing in Alabama in football what we face in NC in basketball, maybe even more pronounced.

Oops - you're correct. Good opening crowd for Mercer!

U-La-La had 35k at home last week for Southern. Maybe two home games in a row is too much for their fans or Southern travels very well.

I'll bet A.L. Brown outdraws Ga. State.

Let's see if Charlie Cobb can get Ga. State up to 30K attendance like he was credited doing for ASU.

I was impressed with the student turnout. This yeras sophomore class had last season as their reference point for App. State football. Going back two years before that we had solid teams but never made it out of the first round of the playoffs. Point is three quartes of the student body hasn't experienced an exceptional season of football but they still came out.

I always make an attempt to say something nice either before or after game, but did not have time on the way out last night. If the visiting side is out of state I let them know I appreciate them spending money in North Carolina as it helps pay my salary.
One ass on our side can destroy the good will of many being respectful and nice to the visiting side. I hope we don't have many of the asses, and it seems we don't, though every school has a few I guess.

Nobody has ever said Cobb was solely responsible for the increase in attendance. The end of the Roach era was a contributing factor, as were the decisions made by Peacock and Cobb to enhance the game day experience. I'm not sure why this continues to be something you want to misrepresent. The reasons have been well documented on this board many, many times.
