UMass currently will be an independent in 2016. I wouldn't mind a home and home with them, with a trip to Boston in Sept.

I'm an advocate for them in the Sun Belt. I know they are bad but they have a name that would draw, not a bad trip and they would probably be able to be more competitive. When they move into their new on campus facility things should get better for them.

I don't want them in the SBC. They would only come for football only. I want to shed Idaho, bring in NMSU for all sports and then add Mo. St. And JMU.

JMU seems too big for their britches to use a quote used against us recently. I agree UMass is not ideal just think it would not be a terrible add. True, football only is not what we want.

Jettison Idaho, add JMU and Liberty (oh the horrors!) for all sports along with two non football schools like UNCW and Winthrop. Two divisions ease the cost of travel for non revenue sports.

East
App State
Georgia Southern
Georgia State
JMU
Liberty
Troy
Non Football: Winthrop, UNCW

West
Arkansas State
ULL
ULM
NMSU
S Alabama
Texas State
Non Football: UALR, UT Pan American

I am in Myrtle Beach helping my son move from here to Charlotte. His office down here is at the Coastal Carolina campus. It is awesome. I could easily see those guys being ready for the Sun Belt in under five years. A lot to like about this area too.

Vandy's new coach may have the shortest tenure in football history.

Wonder if Rashad Canty regrets going to Vandy now instead of App?

Why do people keep saying the SBC should add JMU? JMU already said no. Can't force them to join against their will.

And yeah, holy smoke is Vandy bad.

Don't get the hate for Idaho. I hope to make the trip when we go there in 2015. I would take UMASS also. They should've beaten Vandy today.

I think JMU will have until May/June next year to ultimately make up their minds. They have held out for C-USA... If they choose to not join by next May/June, I think you'll quit hearing about JMU.

agree JMU is going to run out of time to join, probably in the next year, and the SBC moves on to other schools, but no doubt App wants JMU in, we need a travel partner.

My wife's cousin and her husband are Dukes. We saw them this weekend, and they are not diehards, but they are stunned that JMU chose to stay in the CAA. I don't know what forces are preventing JMU from making the move, but they will eventually run out of time.

I'm with you in that I think it would be a fun trip to make. That said, it's a terrible football program that's nowhere near any other school in the conference.

In my perfect world, instead of focusing on JMU or other Eastern also-ran FCS programs, the Sun Belt would keep Idaho and add Montana and/or North Dakota St. so they'd have a true Western arm AND add programs that would actually boost the league's profile. But I assume neither of those schools wants to move up right now, and if they did I'm sure the MWC would be their preference.

We should try and add bus trips to the conference not spread out further.
