Welp, that's gonna be a late arrival back in Raleigh for my crew. But on the plus side - all-day tailgate!

Some friends of ours did bring one a few years ago, so I assume they're still allowed in the stadium. Now, finding room for it on your row...JohnnyBurrito wrote:Well that sucks...
Anybody know if you can bring strollers?

We often bring a stroller in for the earlier games and just end up standing in the end zone. Don't want to bother the other fans around us with a stroller on the row!

Re: App/SoAla game (Oct 4) at 6 pm EST
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good night game but 3:30 has worked so well for years and its proven to generate large crowds. 3:30 is early enough and late enough to allow those traveling from afar to make the games and return home. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come, unless TV dictates - and before someone comments, I don't consider ESPN3 "TV" as they usually broadcast games at varying times that appear to be at the request of the school and/or conference and not under the direction of the mothership.Yosef10 wrote:Keep the 6pm kick offs comin

Can't speak for all old-heads but some of us who have 2-3 hour drives each way this doesn't work well at all - I loved the night games we have had in past seasons but getting home so late and driving in the middle of the night is not appealing any more --- should be a great evening of football and celebration ---

Agree that 3:30 or thereabouts is the ideal time to accommodate everyone. Evening games are great for students and locals, but tough for those with young kids and those traveling from Charlotte, Triad, Triangle or points beyond.
However, being that I'm leaving the wife and son at home for this one, I'll deal with the late drive home in exchange for extra pregaming.
Hey, at least we haven't scheduled any nooners yet. Those suck for pretty much everyone.

Dare I suggest that some of you stay the night in one of the High County's many luxurious hotels?
Night games are great for the student culture. Which is important now that we have a new generation who haven't experienced championship football.
6 pm favors young alums with no kids like me as well.

Re: App/SoAla game (Oct 4) at 6 pm EST
I certainly could get a hotel, but then that's adding extra cost, plus I won't get home until late morning/early afternoon on Sunday. Which isn't ideal for a slightly less young alum with a 1-year-old son. It's an option, sure, just not one that I personally prefer. Also, even when I was younger and with no kids, I would have preferred 3:30 to 6 when traveling from Raleigh. But to each his own.Gonzo wrote:Dare I suggest that some of you stay the night in one of the High County's many luxurious hotels?

However I'm OK with it as I agree with your other points, plus the fact that these are 6 pm games as opposed to 7:30 or 8 makes the return trip at least reasonably manageable. I will be there and expect to have a blast, so no complaints from here.
I do wonder if they will be as keen on night kickoffs once November rolls around.
ETA: We did come up for the weekend of the Campbell game and rented a cabin with some friends. In that case, the 6 pm kickoff was perfect (weather aside).

Are you gonna chip in to help pay for those exorbitant hotel prices they charge in Boone, Gonzo?Gonzo wrote:Dare I suggest that some of you stay the night in one of the High County's many luxurious hotels?

The concern over late games is very real. When I was still living in GA. it was a 5hr trip for me but we rarely missed a game. I shudder to think how much fewer games I could have made if we'd had a bunch of 6 pm starts. I still can't figure out why in the world the Campbell game was at six.

And the Triad is not far enough that a 6pm game is too late.
