New recruit
New recruit
Heard from reliable source today that ASU signed a transfer from Oregon. Supposedly a 5 star WR that redshirted his freshman year with the Ducks. Said to have great speed. No confirmation yet on goasu.com.
Re: New recruit
Wow, that's a big time pickup.
Speedster with a lot of big time offers coming out of Miami.

Re: New recruit
You appear to be correct. Dude was times between 4.24 and 4.28 in the 40. That's fast.

Re: New recruit
Looks like we have our next Dexter Jackson as far as pure speed goes... Should bring the explosiveness of this offense up another level!!!
Thank goodness there's only 20 days left.

Re: New recruit
He's got 20 days to move across the country, get on campus, get a play book, and learn it. I don't see him starting the first couple games. The Oregan spread is unlike anything in football right now so even though we run a spread like offense it is going to take some time to learn. Luckily I feel that this guy is going to stick around for all 4 years. I can also bet that besides running a spread genre of offense it helps getting players like this when they see App players playing on sundays. If we can keep around 8-10 guys active in the NFL I think it will really help our ability to pull in the transfers like this guy who clearly has nfl speed if nothing else. I look forward to seeing this guy start to make his impact about halfway through the year. 4 stars he may be but there is a pecking order that at this point has already been established and he will have to work his way up through that. Hopefully he can learn the playbook quickly and start to see field time after 2-3 games.

Re: New recruit
I agree with Daze that we shouldn't heap undue expectations on this young man. How many transfers have we had who actually lived up to billing? I'll be surprised to see him get much meaningful playing time until a few games into the season.
Still, it's difficult not to be encouraged by his potential.

Re: New recruit
Daze makes some good points in his post.
Helps that he is coming from a spread offense. Easier transition for him.
No disrespect to our current WR's but I haven't seen the talent from that group that will keep Sumler on the bench. I think we will see him sooner rather than later.

YaaaHooooo
Good get by the coaches. Love the new attitude as far as recruiting and targeting players. Welcome change.
If he lives up to his potental he'll be a great addition.

A little off topic, but I really like the name of this blog/message board, YosefsCabin.com.

Re: New recruit
This new recruit will be a force before this season is half over. If he was considering Yale and Harvard he obviously is no stiff in the classroom. He'll pick up the play book quickly enough.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.
Re: New recruit
To be fair - I was considering Harvard and Yale when looking at colleges too. They just weren't considering me!scatman77 wrote:This new recruit will be a force before this season is half over. Re: New recruit
He has something that you ca'nt teach anyone else on the field, and that's about 2 tenths of a second in the 40 yds. Hope Satterfield puts him on the field and gets the ball in space to him and lets see what hea can do coming out of the blocks. No need to wait until he has the playbook completely down. We could be leaving points on the field by not getting this guy the ball since he is faster than everyone. Certainly not my call but give him the ball early and hopefully often.
btw, how did he end up at APP?

Re: New recruit
Not my call but I say throw the ball early to him. He's got way more wheels on him that anyone else. Glad we have better a evaluator calling the plays this year.

Re: New recruit
I saw some film of this guy returning kickoffs. I would think that would be one place we could use him immediately. By the way, based on the film I saw, he has more than speed. He has good hands and runs good routes.Black Saturday wrote:Not my call but I say throw the ball early to him. He's got way more wheels on him that anyone else.
