APP STATE / So. Alabama WX Trends - FRIDAY UPDATE

Unread post by WXAPP » Tue Sep 30, 2014 1:10 pm

This will be one of those spectacular High Country Saturday's we always enjoy during Fall. Friends, Football and Tailgating! Have at it!

Cold front dropping through the High Country late Friday will be moving east and out early Saturday AM. For the diehard early tailgaters, chilly start with partly cloudy but improving skies.

Here's the break down...

8 AM - P/C Near 50 degree.

Noon - Mostly sunny, mid 50s

Kickoff - Mostly clear, to clear, Mid 50s

At the half - Clear sky, mid to lower 50s

End of Game - Clear sky, lower 50s to upper 40s.

Dress in layers so you can regulate the warmth as the sun moves across the sky. Once it sets, things will start to cool and the Fall chill will certainly be felt.

Keep in mind, we forecast for temps in the shade. Thus, tailgating in direct sunlight, should feel more like the mid 60s; love that heat energy.

I don't foresee a radical change in the trends for Saturday. But, as always, I'll update later in the week.

Pack the stands for our pride, OUR TEAM and to tell Coach Moore THANK YOU!

GO MOUNTAINEERS!

***WEDNESDAY UPDATE***

No major changes to forecast thinking other than temps may come in 5-9 degrees cooler then prior model guidance. Will have better feel on game day temps later Thursday. But, it is of note, a cooler trend in the last series of model runs.

***THURSDAY UPATE****

A turn towards the colder side of life... South Alabama boys won't like it...

Here's my latest breakdown for the day...

8 AM - Mid 40s, partly cloudy, gusty winds to 35 mph.

Noon - Upper 40s "ish", partly cloudy, gusty winds to 35 MPH.

High temps near 3PM - lower 50s, mostly sunny, gusty winds to 30 MPH.

Kickoff - Mid to upper 40s, Mostly clear, diminishing wind gusts.

Halftime - Mid 40s, clear sky, lighter winds.

End of Game - Lower 40s, clear sky, light winds.

Dress in layers, prepare to add for warmth as the sun sets.

FYI Sunday AM, mid 30s in the Boone.

GO MOUNTAINERS!

So much for wearing my gold t-shirt to the game.
When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

You can still wear it JT. You may not be able to see it because of the sweatshirt or coat over it but you'll still know in your heart it's there. :D

****FRIDAY UPDATE****

No Major changes to the forecast. Clouds may be a bit of a stickler, but I'll keep the faith and maintain the clearing trend through the day. Temps will be chilly but workable once the sunlight appears. So.Bama folks are in for a bit of a shock...
