It will definitely be interesting to see how their players react to the weather. High of 48 and likely will dip into the upper 30's late in the game.

Not sure we are there yet. Still too many mistakes with penalties and turnovers. For our running game to improve the QB is going to have to be a threat (otherwise it won't matter who the back is). I hope to see some double back and double tight end sets. Hoping that the home field fires us up. Hope to see us come out with more confidence and be ascertive with our game plan. My heart says we win, but my head doesn't think so. I think we are in it til the end tho.

I'm kind of getting a kick out of the prediction threads. Probably 85% of our posters predict a win but when we lose everyone lists the reasons and then says they are happy with where we are and have confidence. I hope we win but I just don't think we will. Coaching is still a problem and we haven't put together a strong game from start to finish. The talent is there but I think we underachieve again.

Maybe the return to The Rock is just what this team needs, after all App is UNDEFEATED AT HOME. Can't wait to get up in that mountain air this weekend.

Thanks for the write up Big C!

The "glass half full" side of me thinks we can win every game. The "glass half empty" side of me thinks this current team is still trying to figure out how to win and probably needs another year.

I normally don't put a prediction up when I think we will lose....

If Taylor Lamb plays like he did in quality performances against Michigan, Campbell and Southern Miss, we win.
If he plays like he did against Georgia Southern -- several overthrows to open receivers, poor decisions in the red zone and unexplainable interceptions -- then we lose.

He's a freshman ... no prediction.

Hate that I'll be at a wedding instead of the game, but maybe it will save me from seeing it.

Nice write up as always. Really wished I could share in the optimism of most of the posters. Sadly, I haven't seen enough consistency out of this team to feel comfortable that we can win. We should win this game and I hope we do but I just don't see it. No prediction on score as always and I hope this is the week we turn it around but for now I see a big fat L.

To be frank, I don't think we are very good right now at all, and I'm not buying into the whole "our best players are waiting in the wings" phantasm. I don't predict a lot in the way of wins for the rest of the year (though Liberty, Troy, Idaho, and Georgia State are all very winnable games ... for ANYONE). However, I have a very good "feeling" on this game. SA seems to be close to an equal to us when we play well. Looking at the matchup, I like our running game in this one. Due to the defense they play and our strengths (what few they are) I think if we stick to the running game, especially with the "h-back" and TE leads, we can be efficient in the 3-6 yard runs. Not sexy, but it will let us keep the ball and open up some passes. As long as we hold onto the pigskin, and the o-line stops with the false starts, I think we will pull this one out. Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I'm hoping some fire will be coming outta the eyes of our guys in this one. They should be good and p*ssed-off!!

For those thinking that USA can't play in the cold, this was pointed out on the SBC board:

12-7-2013
USA 30 - Louisiana Lafayette 8
41 degrees at kickoff with 16-25 mph winds
Wind chill 30-33

11-23-2013
USA 36 - Louisiana Monroe 14
52 degrees at kickoff with 17-25 mph winds
Wind chill 44-46

I did giggle just a bit when the state of LA was used for cold temps.

The difference this time around is it has been 80+ degrees in Mobile the last several days and SA will experience a 35-40 degree temp change. Now I'm not suggesting this will make them not be able to play but just like when APP travels to different regions to play lets say where it is very hot and humid it does affect the players. Their own fans have said their wide receivers have had trouble catching the ball so far in games, with cold hands and fingers I hope it will make it even tougher for them.

We really need to win this one. I expect it to be CLOSE. I originally thought this one would be a loss, but South Alabama hasn't looked quite as good as I expected. I think we're really evenly matched, should be a good one. Again a win is crucial, just to keep our fanbase into it. Since I'm a homer I think Marcus Cox and Terrence Upshaw will carry us to victory while Taylor makes some big plays and limits his mistakes. I'll say Apps 26-21

Should be a defensive struggle tomorrow. USA played well in conference play last year and is expected to be a first division team this year. South Al also has 2 FBS road wins already this year and is especially tough on defense. ASU should be in this game to the end but I'm not convinced we can make the key plans needed to pull out a W. I'll be there hoping to be wrong.

South AL 24
ASU 17

I haven't been this excited to go to Boone in a long time... A new day is dawning, it's cold, it's windy-- but it's sunny! I want no voice left when I get home tonight, well, tomorrow. Biggest game of the year.
