Yes, pretty close to the WCU loss in 2004 but this one takes it.

Been a fan since I stepped on campus in the fall of 85 and in my 29 years this is rock bottom. Not. Even. Close.

I've only been a fan since the mid-80's, I'd say so. I can't recall questioning the kicking game as much as I do currently. On the chat I was begging to play for a TD on the last drive, that goes against all conventional football logic when you're tied. I also can't recall a defense that can't get off the field. Liberty went 0-13 on third downs vs Richmond, but our defense plays so far off the ball we don't give the players a chance.
It is a mess and I'm not sure if changes can be made over the next year and a half, but still pulling for them.

I thought rock bottom was the way we got rid of Coach Moore, but it keeps going down hill. I hope it turns up soon!

Yes. It follows the basketball program hitting rock bottom. Cobb's ability to drive things into the ground is impressive. Luckiest man alive to inherit Moore and AE, and basking in their glory lasted long enough for him to leave things in a mess.

when all of this FBS talk got serious a couple years ago, one of my problems with it was I didn't want us to end up like another Troy, WKU, MTSU, Marshall, etc. A friend (among others) argued that we're in a better position than those schools/programs were when they moved up. My question now is, how so?

So does that mean in a few years we'll have programs that are going to bowl games? Can't wait.

We won't be like all those other programs is exactly what those programs were thinking. Good decisions are made when people can separate their dreams from reality. All the data pointed to the problems we are facing on the field and with the budget. Some people didn't want to see it.

Thought about this all the way down the mountain. Certainly is in my 27 years of App FB
Scott "Ain't Working" Satterfield!

But Hey, at least Basketball starts in a couple weeks. Pretty soon the Rock will look like the Holmes center.

Yes. This team would be bottom half of the SoCon and Big South. The decline in six years is mind boggling. If this small, mediocre FCS team can hang 55 on us, ECU could break Ga. Tech's 222 point record on us.

It's the pits...........but it is always darkest just before the dawn. Did today suck? Hell yes! Will App win again someday? Hell yes! Will I still be here to root for them? Hell yes!
That being said, the radio boys MUST let fans vent. See y'all for Ga State.

At least we will have big programs ringing us up to schedule us for their homecoming

appst89 knows my answer to this.... no this is not the lowest point... two that come to mind that were lower was the '04 WCU really felt no hope then and in '81... somebody referenced it... the working years.... again no hope... while its mindboggling to think you can score 48 pts. (for a team that's averaging hell I'm not sure 24 maybe) and lose... really... the to's killed us again... we are young and playing better competition overall... there's still hope the light bulb will come on.....

The timing to move up couldn't have been worse. New chancellor, new AD, new football coaches, new everything. It would take us a while to rebuild in FCS much less FBS. Hunker down boys, they need us now more than ever!!!

Lowest point I can remember since I stepped on campus in 73. That said I'll be at Troy next weekend expecting a win.

Yes, Things will improve enough in a few years to the point that a 6-6 record will get us in because there will be about 6 bowls available pretty much aimed at the Sun Belt to be divvied up among the good and mediocre teams.

Satterfield will be through with his OJT by then.
In the mean time these poor juniors and seniors have to suffer humiliation because we are redshirting the most of FBS level talent to prepare for 2016 and some sort of bowl appearance. Is this fair to them to look back on these two years on the verge of depression. Not kidding in this instance. Redshirting is a good idea, but do we have to go to the extreme?
On the bright side our schedule for the remainder of the season includes about three teams which have mustered only one or two conference wins. Not checked today, but I believe by early afternoon yesterday that was the case. At least that sort of thing was flashed on the ESPN3 screen yesterday. Maybe I was hallucinating.
