Official Not Mocassins prediction thread
Words cannot describe what Mountaineer fans have had to go through in the last few days. This program has received few beatings at home like they did last weekend. We all know about recent playoff losses that got out of control. However, this one beats all the rest. This was a loss that transcends postseason play and can only bring back memories of some of the all-time worst losses. This was not Furman or Georgia Southern. This was a team that Appalachian had pretty much owned for forty contests. This takes you back to losses that should have never happened. The outcome is one thing. Most fans can understand a game where both teams played well, and eventually, one team has to lose in the end. The way this loss happened is unexplainable. We saw what The Citadel was able to do against Georgia Southern and knew that the Bulldogs were catching up, but wrote it off as two option teams playing one another. Eventually someone had to win. Appalachian gave up 618 yards at home, while Georgia Southern gave up 253 to the same team on the road. Something about that is not right. There really is not any other way to say it. Somehow, we all move forward to a game that both teams, Appalachian and Chattanooga, have to consider must wins. Chattanooga’s schedule includes a non-Division I game that will not count toward victories needed for the playoffs. Appalachian cannot fall to 0-2 in conference play and have a chance at the title, considering this conference race just got wacky this past weekend.

Very important game, in the past App has always come out swinging when their backs are against the wall. I look for a much better performance (how could it get any worse than last week?) this week. Thus:

Huesman finally gets over the hump with his Moc team now that they have a dual threat QB.

Re: Official Not Mocassins prediction thread
Don't know how to feel about this game. We haven't really stopped anyone this year, and I am not sure we are capable of putting points on the board when we HAVE to. We have definitely played the tougher schedule, but Huesman does scheme pretty well. I expect we will have trouble running the ball, and they will have pressure packages that JJ will have to be prepared for when we are passing. They have mobile QB's and that has always given us fits. Turnovers and special teams play could be key. The pressure is on Team, PROVE me wrong!

Another write up that reads like it is right on "track". I dress my grandson (not yet 2) in faithful black and gold. But he keeps saying to me "Choo Choo train". I think his predictions at this point are as good as mine have been thus far. So hearing the whistle blowing....

I am really worried about the defense. I think the O can score enough to where they SHOULD win but I think the D will give up too many points. Hope I am wrong and its still just "sticker shock" from last weeks performance.B&G wrote:Defense bounces back in a big way with something to prove. The offense? They're a work in progress...

Read on AGS that our defense is really pissed off over last week's performance, they may just surprise a few.

Re: Official Not Mocassins prediction thread
I don't dare make a score prediction, so I'll just say a win. Mainly because if we lose, we're screwed. And because although Chatty has made great strides in the last few years, they have yet to win a big game during that time. Good teams find a way to win; Chatty seems to find ways to choke. Let's hope that continues for another week at least.
Re: Official Not Mocassins prediction thread
I did not see last week coming. Our defense is very young but we still have approximately 8 starters back from last year. Our defense has also played rather well at times - like the first half against ECU and the second half against Montana. As a result, Saturday's game against Chattanooga becomes the biggest early season game we have played in years. We can't afford an 0-2 conference start. It will be good to have Lott and Price back on the field. We are 1-0 with them! Chattanooga would love to beat us. Both our offense and defense need to be more consistent. ASU might not be as good as I hoped we would be this year but I still think we are much better than we showed last week. Over the years, a motivated ASU squad has played very well. Thus, I'm expecting a bounce-back victory this week:
