The positive view: We are a JV football team

For a JV football team I see many positives in the offense and defense. The Kicking game will get better.

As a JV team we are making way to many BASIC football mistakes. They are almost predictable. We need to just reduce the number of penalties. I don't know why they are happening so often. I can deal with aggressive penalties, but the others are mind boggling.

Viewing this team as a freshman and Sophmore JV team helps me live with the terrible quality of football i am watching.

I agree with David jackson "Give a Mountaineer a chance" especially this young team.

you all know how passionate i am about APP Football but THIS is the time for APP fans to STAND behind the kids on the field.

GO APP......I stand behind you........WHO is with me !!!!!
i know WVneer is !

Count me in! While I agree this is incredebly awful ( defense). To watch. I still feel the youngsters on this team will be carrying us to our first bowl game of the "modern era" in a couple of years. I want to give Satterfield the chance to finish putting HIS team together and will reserve judgement until we can field a full roster of FBS recruits.

I can't ignore though the fact that last nights loss was the lowest low and inexcusable. This team has to learn how to close games. I also can't ignore the fact that for want of a decent kicker, we would be 3-3 right now even with all the other shortcomings and I don't think anyone of our hysterical "fans" would be unhappy with that at this stage of the game.

I agree with you and think the APP JV team is actually playing well against Michigan, So Miss, and Ga So.

We have to change our VIEW of the team made of Freshman and Sophmore's, WE are a JV team.

Give a Mountaineer a chance !!!!

I will make a banner for the next home game.

Wondered how long it would take for the "It's ok to be this bad, we are young" crowd to come around. Did not see any last night, but here they are.
No, its not ok, something has to be done about it right freaking NOW! Inside the locker room or out.

I have to agree. We can argue some improvement on offense, but last night it was against an injury depleted FCS school, and we burned some red-shirts mid-season to do it. We can't and shouldn't excuse the pathetic defensive "effort". There is no excuse for it.

We have steadily gone down hill on defense and there seems to be no way to fix it. We are undersized as Satt said, but I think the scheme is bad as well. I have no confidence what-so-ever that this team can fix its defensive woes. With three likely bowl eligible teams left on the schedule, this season will humiliating. I think Georgia State, Idaho, and Troy are licking their chops as well. Awful.

And we look worse now than we did 6 weeks ago! If we don't make any improvements from this point on, I say we give someone else a chance.

H-3, I agree we look worse and we need to adjust some things

Let's be thankful for APP State football and the kids fighting for us on the field, even if they are Freshman and Sophmore's mostly

This Mountaineer has been given chances (games), some of his chances have been really easy chances (FCS games) others have been hard chances (P5 & FBS games). Overall he has blown them and reached a new low last night against a 63 scholly middle of the road FCS squad from the Big South Conference! This team will never learn the fundamentals under these coaches, they have proven that over two years already.

I'm done watching his chances. Pack him up.

After sleeping on it, I did come up with a positive, Meadors looks like the real deal. That is positive.
The rest, hell no, I'm still pissed and trying to find a way to show my frustration while supporting my university.

Every person on MMB is an amateur App State football analyst. One can figuratively stomp their feet, beat their chest and demand that changes are made. But really, no one on here knows even a sliver as much as the coaches. It's their sole job.

Ultimately, these comments and threads are all a collection of opinions. Some are written in what I believe to be a proper context of the situation. Some are written in an unreasonable context. But all are amateur opinions.

We can demand wins and be disgusted with our current team but reality is reality. In the past we could say "No excuse! We have too much talent!" but today that's not true. The real talent we have do not have many games under their belt and the guys with experience aren't that good.

On Saturday, we didn't march out a team that was extremely better than Liberty. I would say we probably have better players from top to bottom but not so much that losing to Liberty is as bad as the Citadel game in 2012. Liberty's #1 WR and their QB were solid players, by the way.

PhillyApp... I gotta say, the way you're leading this charge is inspiring. Count me in as someone willing to give give a Mountaineer a chance.

Western Carolina has hardly taught anyone anything in its existence. But let's learn from what has happened with Mark Speir. The first two years of weakness and heartache followed by a blossoming first half of the season in the third year. My guess is that Western will be even better next year.

We're bad this year, folks. But I'm willing to believe we won't be bad next year. I'm also willing to believe we'll be pretty good in 2016.

I'm going to steal and modify a quote from Bo Shimbeckler:
Those who stay, will see champions.

Yes, those champions will be on our sideline.
