APP STATE / UL-MONROE WX TRENDS - Early look

Unread post by WXAPP » Tue Nov 04, 2014 4:27 pm

After last weeks Mother Nature filled shenanigans... (thanks Ma Nature!), this week won't be quite as chaotic weather wise. To the fans who were in the stands last week.. THANK YOU! Makes a Mountaineer proud!

Early look at trends for this week, chilly, but workable for the fan base. UL-Monroe... Cold.

8 AM - Mid to low 30s / P.Cloudy

Noon - Mid to lower 40s / M.Sunny

Kickoff - Mid 40s / M.Sunny - Light winds.

Halftime - Mid 40s / P.Cloudy - Light winds.

End of Game - Lower 40s / P.Cloudy

While a cold front will be moving into the High Country, timing of that, doesn't appear to be until overnight Saturday through much of Sunday. Rain to snow possible with the boundary. Game Day is DRY!

GO MOUNTAINEERS!

Aw, shucks! I was hoping for another weekend like last weekend. :D That was neither the snowiest nor the coldest game for me in Boone, but it is one that will stay in the memory bank for a long time.

Crum,

If anything, are we looking at a warmer afternoon temp on Saturday now?

Thanks Sir

Just curious. Why don't we play in games at 12:30, especially the later in the season games? Once the sun goes behind the press box those temperatures can drop 20 degrees. I wonder if some of the second half exodus is due to the fact that folks just get too cold on the home side. Just an observation.

We played at 1pm for many years and the attendance was awful. The first big spike in attendance came in 2004 when kickoff was moved back to 3:30. Starting later gives those of us off the mountain much needed time to get up to Boone and have time to tailgate instead of rushing to just make kickoff at 1. If people dress appropriately the cold shouldn't be an issue most days.

I say schedule them in late afternoon. That gives us a home field advantage with temps getting that low.

It's not up to us. TV dictates everything at this level. We don't even know kickoff times until a few weeks before each game.

To me App Saturdays are game days. Starting at noon limits the time to spend with friends. 3:30 start times are best for the majority of our fans.

I'm fine with 3:30 starts but with a 3 hour drive home plus a stop for dinner its getting tougher on an old man ;) to make that trip especially now that our games run so much longer because of ESPN3 and/or TV. I realize it is in one way a nice problem to have.

I wouldn't object to the Idaho game being a bit earlier but regardless I'll be there.

Yeah Hap - I'm with you as I used to drive all over the place to see APP football and that wasn't that many years ago - probably not much more than 10 years ago we left Alamance Co on a early Sat morn - drove to Boone to pick up our daughter - continued from Boone to Cullowhee - watched the entire game - drove back to Boone to drop off our daughter and then drove back to Alamance County - WOW, couldn't even imagine doing that now - In 2007, we went to every game home and away --- Now just 7 years later it is struggle just to make it to one game --- Plus I have an old POS car which I don't trust :(
I still like to drive and I am a good driver but it just saps me mentally and physically ---
Anybody got an HGH, cream/clear, Speed ??? ;)
