This is correct. This has been in the works for a good while but, as you said, it was just a matter of getting the dates to come together.

Did Jay Sutton go to GaSt because he did not think he would have a shot at AD here,
or because he was such a good friend of Cobb.

Jay is not an GA St., he is now a Director for a not for profit organization in western NC. I can't recall which one.

But don't you find it telling that Cobb had 10 years to make a Wake-App game happen and couldn't. Then, two months after he leaves, it magically does?

Not as much that as Wake was not going to play us again as long as Grobe was there (Caldwell to a lesser extent but Grobe said he would never play App). As soon as he was gone things went into motion. It just took a little time to work all the details out. It's nothing but a timing issue as far as Cobb and Grobe are concerned.

I find that to be speculation and pot stirring.

Grobe was the HC at Wake from 2001-2013 and I've heard him state publicly on Charlotte radio interviews that he would not play App, he said that game had no upside.

Perhaps that is a more likely reason.

As usual moose beat me to it. :D

"Beas is a better public speaker than Cobb..."

That's not exactly a ringing endorsement of Beasley's public speaking skills, Saint...I had a Labrador Retriever who had better speaking skills than Cobb.

I'm so pumped over this series being added. Many of my fondest memories with App Football came thanks to our then annual games against Wake. Growing up in Winston-Salem made this game just a little more special than the res of the games. I can't wait for 2017!

Where are naysayers who said we would never get a P5 school in Boone? Just about everything these folks said would never happen has already taken place and its only year 1!

When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

We had to wait for the ACC to finalize Notre Dame's game dates with ACC schools that year. They did a big release about it earlier in the week.

YES YES YES. This is the one we've been waiting for. Better yet, proof that we don't have to wait until KBS is one day expanded to get appealing OOC opponents in Boone.

I never understood the naysayers when there were lots of G5 schools that were already getting home and homes with P5's. I guess they have an inferiority complex.
