The commentators for the game were garbage. The fake was A M A Z I N G!

I'm sorry, commentators were bad compared to what? PBS commentators? It was ESPN the Ocho but I thought Cotton and Pepper did a pretty good job :D

That fake was sooooo sweet! Thanks for posting.

I didn't think the announcers were bad at all - not as good as Al Groh and his play by play guy but much better than we've had over the years other than when Bob Rathbun was doing the Sports South games - He is a big-time play by play guy ---

I thought they were pretty solid, especially by ESPN3 standards. I actually thought the analyst brought some good insights at times. Although if you are just watching the run-up to the fake FG, I can see how you would think otherwise, because he was freaking annoying with the "I love it, if you got 'em, use 'em, why not?" stuff.

They were definitely better than what ECU had for the Temple game. The color guy sounded like he was phoning it in, literally. And the PbP guy sounded like he was a PA announcer for a horse track.

I would be interested to know how long it has been since we faked a field goal. I swear, I can't remember the last time we faked a field goal, or a punt.

the only problem I had with the commentary was the Florida State guy kept implying on certain plays that our defense was playing dirty, and there was no need to play that way, I don't know what the hell he was looking at, every replay showed our guys using proper tackling techniques, and just playing good, hard nose defense. I guess he felt sorry for GS

I think he was calling in, it was terrible. I know that some low budget soccer games are done that way, but his connection was terrible.

That was an ESPNU game. Wow.

ECU phoned it in, as well.

Well we know about the Furman Block, should we call this the "Cobb Fake"?

I just found the color analyst to be annoying overall, but as mentioned above, especially around the 3 TO's/Fake FG. He just got on my nerves, but yes he was certainly not the worst we've had or that's out there.

I was at the game so I didn't hear the whole game just the clip posted above. Glad I didn't hear the color guy for a whole game.

The commentators for the App game were great on Saturday overall.

But their delayed reaction the the fake was pretty funny...in a way that didn't reflect well on them.

"Here's MacElfresh into the endzone for the touchdown.....(full 5 second pause).....OOOOHHH!!!!"

Agree, can't remember when I have enjoyed a single play more than that one.

I remember Nate McKinney throwing a pass at WCU - I guess it must have been 2002 - he was a friend of our daughter and I was kidding him about it - our guy was open in the end zone but the "wind" held the ball up and WC intercepted but was immediately tackled ---

It was right up there with Armanti's Houdini play against Samford.

It made me think of the SC State playoff game where we were trying to run out the clock just inside Bulldog territory but their coach called time out. The next play, Armanti hit Quick in the end zone for a ~46 yard TD pass with seconds left on the clock. :!:

I thought of that one immediately as well. Still one of my favorite Armanti moments.
