I'm just saying - cart behind the horse please! Awesome win today! Total TEAM effort - we still have a journey ahead. Beat CCU!ASU-FTW wrote:But they also play in the MAC. I fear triple option teams, and Coastal doesn't run a TO offense. I feel good about this game.
Re: Coastal vs Toledo
I agree the MAC is not that good, but on this Saturday the MAC had a pretty good day. They had two wins over the Big East (Western Michigan over UConn and Ball State over South Florida); one win over the Big 12 (N. Ill. over Kansas) and one win over the Big 10 (Central Michigan over Iowa).ASU-FTW wrote:But they also play in the MAC.
Re: Coastal vs Toledo
Going to be an interesting game with Coastal Carolina.
CoCo Hillary's brother is their QB (#3) and has a decent arm. Can run if needed. He graduated at South Carolina and is attending grad school at Coastal. Aramis Hillary (probably spelled wrong.)
Coastal's coach is a billionaire. First year there. Always wanted to be a college head coach. Imagine his money bought him the job, but they did a good play calling job, and have a pretty good running back. They led Toledo in the 2nd half.
Coastal has a lot of FBS transfers and young players. Pretty dangerous. Beat Furman in I believe 3OT's. They got into one with a 2 point return (sound familiar).
Their kick offs do not normally go into the end zone, normall to about the five. Many schools are doing that trying to get good field position on kick offs or fumbles. Nine people tried out for their field goal kicker position, and the one they have is pretty good.
You can watch the entire Coastal -vs- Toledo game on ESPN3, replay section, if you have a subscriber that allows you to watch ESPN3.
Coastal will not be a push over.

Re: Coastal vs Toledo
Not being ugly here, but Toledo was just going through the motions, they were then thrashed by thier coaches on the sideline in the middle of the fourth quarter and then, only then did they throttle CCU...Im not saying that CCU is not capable of causing ASU alot of problems....But Toledo just showed up yesterday.

He may be attending grad school, but I'm pretty sure Spurrier showed Hillary the door a few years ago. APP recuited A Hillary, but as with most all kids that age they can't see the forest for the trees, and he ended up picking splinters out of his behind in Columbia.
BLACK SATURDAY
Re: Coastal vs Toledo
Hillary was dismissed from the South Carolina program, and then enrolled at CCU.

Re: Coastal vs Toledo
Actually both the MAC and Sun Belt are looking pretty good this season. Both are ranked right behind the ACC and well above C-USA in the conference standings. So far the MAC has wins over BCS members Indiana, South Florida, Kansas, UConn, Iowa and Penn State along with very close losses to Iowa, Arizona and Minn. This may be one of the better years for the MAC.newtoasu wrote:I agree the MAC is not that good, but on this Saturday the MAC had a pretty good day. I don't really know what happened in the Toledo game. I can tell you most MAC schools are not excited about playing an FCS team and always go into those games expecting a win. Now, that attitude can be dangerous since MAC teams have lost to an FCS team a few times in the past.
Coastal Carolina looks good in the passing department. You can expect to see them throw the ball a lot.

Have you ever played anything competitive in your life? USC recruited the kid for a reason.

Re: Coastal vs Toledo
to be fair to Hillary, we are talking about Spurrier, this is a guy will no morals, no conscience when it comes to dealing with players. Not saying Hillary didn't deserve to be punished, but I believe this is the same coach who allowed his starting qb to stay on the team for 3 years after being arrested, i believe, 6 times. Spurrier pretty much has one rule, if you can contribute on the field, I'll forgive you and find a way to keep you on the team, if your a bench warmer, give me any excuse and i'll get rid of you, and give your schlorship to someone else.
Re: Coastal vs Toledo
So, that magically made them win? Talking to them? We should be undefeated from now on then. Shhhhhh, don't tell anyone!App90 wrote:Not being ugly here, but Toledo was just going through the motions, they were then thrashed by thier coaches on the sideline in the middle of the fourth quarter and then, only then did they throttle CCU...Im not saying that CCU is not capable of causing ASU alot of problems....But Toledo just showed up yesterday.

Read the article. Doesn't say anything about him having been dismissed. Did state some policy only.App90 wrote:Hillary was dismissed from the South Carolina program, and then enrolled at CCU.

At that point he had only redshirted for a year at USC. Did say that he was a member of the 2009 SEC Academic Honor Roll. So, smart kid, had a year of school in without playing or playing much.
Not saying that what you said is not true. However the game broadcasters said he had graduated from USC, I believe they meant to say that he had graduated (from CCU) and had attended USC. .

Re: Coastal vs Toledo
Toledo took Arizona to OT and lost (AZ later throttled Okie St. by 21), then flew back to Toledo, then back to Wyoming 3 days later and beat them at 9,000 feet above sea level...not easy trip for any team.ASU-FTW wrote:Not like Toledo is any good.
Playing Toledo well is not encouraging for this to be an easy game where we can figure a few things out...but we should win if we play like we did in the second half on Saturday.
Re: Coastal vs Toledo
The meeting that Hillary and Spurrier had was, you are not playing QB here....Basically he was told to hit the bricks and find another school. The charge sealed his fate. I live in SC and they eat and breathe about this team here. He left with encouragement to do so...GoApps70 wrote:Read the article. Doesn't say anything about him having been dismissed. Aramis Hillary is no slouch. Definitely a guy to be wary of. Also, the kid got shown the door (or was encouraged to leave, anyway) for having booze in a car. High horses aside, there are worse charges.
