THIS...
“This is a huge win for us,” Coach Scott Satterfield of the Mountaineers said as his team whooped it up in a locker room at Centennial Bank Stadium. “This is a three-time-in-a-row Sun Belt champion we just beat. To come to their place and win makes a huge statement. All the questions about moving up — this win legitimizes this decision and proves that we can compete with this conference’s best.”
The Mountaineers were dominant. Only early special-teams miscues and horrid field position, a late turnover and an opposing onside kick made the score closer than it would have been. The Mountaineers had a 541-176 lead in total yards with just four minutes to play.
Satterfield pointed to third-down-conversion percentages as evidence of a dominant performance. The Mountaineers were 7 of 15, the Red Wolves 0 of 11.
“They were the best third-down defense in this conference, allowing just 31 percent, which is phenomenal,” Satterfield said. “And our defense held them to 0 for 11. That’s the big tale of the tape right there.”

Folks this stuff gives me chills--- the really good ones. If ANYBODY isn't excited about how this team has developed and how bright our future really is, you really don't know much about college football. Yes, we still have some very coachable moments from the A-State game but there are glimpses of things this team is doing and it makes me say "Yaa who!!!"
I can't wait til next Saturday-- not predicting a win, but surely not predicting a loss either.
GO APPS

I like the last quote in the article as well... Didn't quote that one, didn't want to spoil it.

the thing that surprised me this year, was I thought most of the other SBC teams would be bigger, stronger, faster, more athletic, and would wear us down as the season progressed, but that just hasn't been the case. We actually seem to be getting stronger, while our SBC brothers are wearing down. On that note, one thing that makes me really happy is GS seems to be fading fast, injuries, lack of depth are starting to have an effect, the bye week couldn't have come at a better time for them, if they had to play ULM this week, I think they would get beat. Next year will be a real challenge for them, they have alot of starters to replace, including 4 starting offensive linemen.

The next two years when both App and GS are bowl eligible we may see the fruits of this staff building for the future during the transition.

We all know that stats can be both misleading and telling. But sometimes they are just cool to look at. Currently we are 27th in offense (yards per game) and 36th in defense. While we have to take Campbell into consideration all in all it is still pretty cool to see us on the same lists with the big boys. The scary thing is that we will are only going to get better and better. Any reason why those averages can't both be in the top 25 next season? I didn't want to hazard a prediction for this game because I figured on a close loss. Watched the game on gamecast. ST miscues gave me a sinking feeling early on. The awesome thing about gamecast was that every time I hit refresh we were gaining yards in chunks. Big stops on defense throughout. It got to be a nailbiter at the end especially since the clock doesn't update enough with gamecast. They were killing me! Awesome win. Hard to believe what I read about the poor attendance.

the Ark State people blamed the low attendance on weather and, if you can believe this, deer season. I know that its Arkansas, and there isn't a lot to do except shoot things, but that's the first time I have heard that excuse.

That was completely dumb to read. Arkansas is dumb fort only giving them a 2 week gun season then if that is the case

hey, I'm just the messenger, when saw the post from the Ark people, I found it hard to grasp also, but they were serious about it being the main reason for low attendance, I guess they really love their deer hunting.
