Sure is fun to read

I typically don't read the opposition's message boards but just looked at Ark State's. Man I lost count of the number of excuses. I didn't really expect anyone to give us props but good lord. They figure that a few made kicks (sounds familiar) and the entire complexity of the game changes. I would hope that our play calling would have changed under a different scenario near the end. For a huge chunk of the game we just plain and simply whipped their asses. I love the fact that we have an offense now that can't really be game planned for. We obviously want to and can run the ball down the throats of "good defenses". We can also go vertical and have a QB who can and will take off and run. We knew that Ark St. had no vertical passing game and apparently based on what one of their posters said, their signals were easy to pick up. I would think that being in Arkansas you would have to keep signals pretty basic- no higher than a third grade level.

Same thing on the Sun Belt board. And not just from stAte fans.

Fans may not give us respect, but I guarantee the players and coaches who got their asses whipped by App this season know who we are and what we mean.

A few made kicks? They missed two extra points and didn't attempt a FG. Not the deciding factor by a long shot.

Yeah I was reading their board last night and it was like déjà vu. We can run the ball which stands to reason the UL will want to stuff the box. The problem with that is that it exposes their weak secondary to the most efficient QB in the league. Coaches on both sides of the ball will earn their paycheck this week.

Don't know about you guys, but I don't really give a crap what other teams' fans are saying about us on message boards. Just keep beating them.

Yeah I've cracked up at the comments I've been reading on twitter. One of the best was that the BOGUS targeting call cost them the game. I know that kid was good but he must have been REALLY good if he could have stopped all the yards and first downs we out gained them by. Guess he'll be the #1 draft pick when he declares for the draft since he alone can prevent a team from out gaining them by 235 yards and 15 first downs.

Yeah, I'm not sure how you rationalize this game as close. If you watched the game and you've glanced at this stats, especially from 2Q through four-minutes left, you can't argue that this was a fluke. That was a whoopin'. On the other end of the spectrum of their argument, imagine if we don't miss kicks and our kick coverage was even average. Or, imagine if we don't fumble into the end zone on first-and-goal (IIRC)...

They're lucky were weren't perfect either.

One guy bitched about the horrendous officiating- the crew should never be allowed to call a game again (or something to that extent). Looks to me like we had twice the penalties. They also scored 12 points off of turnovers and still lost. As far as extra points. They were -1 net in that department (missed 2 to our 1). My god we beat the crap out of them. We probably could have announced several Cox runs and they still could have done nothing about it.

Moose, I think deer season cost them the game ;) Don't suppose going 0-11 on 3rd down had anything to do with it...

Speaking of Deer season. Didn't Arkansas play LSU at home on Sat? How was their attendance?

If we had gotten a decent performance from our special teams, we would have won by 20+.

“It was pretty rough to stand over there and see them and not be able to stop them on 3rd and 4th down, picking up 6 or 7 yards a pop,’’ said coach Blake Anderson. “It was pretty miserable.”

Best post on their board!

Moose I will have to say that after watching the replays I was surprised they still ejected that guy - it was clearly a penalty but I'm not sure it was worthy of an ejection ---
And I guess they didn't mention the overturn on Marcus at the one? - don't know how that could be overturned without a goal-line angle - he didn't step out of bounds but the ball could have easily crossed the pylon plane before he fumbled -
:?

I will agree it was close. I only put BOGUS like that because the posted did. TL slid late and not much way he could have avoided him but these days if the QB has the head hit at all it's called and since he was sliding that made it even worse. Helmet or shoulder pad to the head of a feet first sliding QB is going to draw the targeting call every time these days. Ross' targeting call earlier in the season wasn't intentional either but he still got thrown out. Bottom line these days is low is the way to go.

As for the other, while I do like replay, I think if you're going to have it in a game you have to have more coverage than mainly from one sideline. I know ESPN can't send full crews to every ESPN3 game but they at least need cameras on the goal lines. No way to see from the press box angle how close it really is on those. Pretty much like Cox's fumble at the 1 that Lamm recovered back at the 6. Sure looked like he was down, at least first time through (haven't watched again yet). But didn't look like you could tell from the angles they had. Guess I'll see when I watch again.

I personally do not like the targeting rule as it is interpreted. I agreed with the penalty but not the ejection. The way I saw it, Lamb slid late as the Ark St player was already committed to the tackle. Yes he made contact with the head but it seemed to be as part of the stop. I am all for safety but you have to let players play the game.

Agree on it being a penalty but questionable on ejecting him as the replayed showed he didnt really lead with the helmet, but alas QB's are protected (whether I agree with it or not). Cox clearly fumbled the ball even with crappy camera angles it was pretty easy to see. Luckily coach called the TO's and Lamb/Meadors bailed him out.

agree 100%, the kid didn't deserve to be tossed, I didn't even agree it was targeting, late hit maybe.

You know that is the second time I can think of where a goal line camera would have shown a better angle. Do they not use cameras on the goal line for ESPN 3 games? It was clearly a fumble.
