Re: Opening line for Idaho
App needs to tread lightly for this upcoming trap game w/ Idaho. Pending the weather conditions, I'm interested in seeing how App can switch gears back to defending a solid passing attack from Idaho. Ark St and ULL were really were run first oriented teams. App hasn't fared as well against passing teams (outside of GA St - weather really impacted the passing game). ULM likes to toss it around and we won that on a last minute FG in KBS. Any line more than 2 TD's I would likely take the points but I see our guys pulling out the win regardless (closer than the experts think).Black Saturday wrote:17 now

Do they pass because they're good at it or because they suck at the run?ASUGoose wrote:App needs to tread lightly for this upcoming trap game w/ Idaho. ULM is a better passing team than Idaho, i think. They have thrown a lot of interceptions. 19 to 12 TD's. Just need to keep the pressure up like we have been

While they lead the league in passing yards per game, they're 9th in passing efficiency, if that answers your question.appvette wrote:Do they pass because they're good at it or because they suck at the run?ASUGoose wrote:App needs to tread lightly for this upcoming trap game w/ Idaho. As far as rushing, they are significantly better than ULM and Ga. State but significantly worse than everyone else.
The big difference between Idaho and ULM is that ULM plays good defense (2nd in the league despite their brutal OOC schedule), while Idaho's defense is terrible against both the run and the pass.
Re: Opening line for Idaho
Paul Petrino is their coach...Bobby's little brother...and he was Bobby's OC for a few years (de facto, since Bobby called most of the shots). So, I am assuming it's similar to his offense - a pro passing style offense with some power running concepts mixed in. Nothing we can't handle if we play our game.
Our players have been getting a lot of love from fans and media, so I think this is a crucial game to show how we handle success. Idaho has no reason not to let it all hang out on Saturday...we need to give them no opportunity to do so.

Easy does it. I don't think this bunch will be impressed by mountains and cold. Should we win- yes, is it automatic? No

Re: Opening line for Idaho
What App needs to do is jump on them right out of the gate. Put 3-4 TDs on the scoreboard before they know what happened and they will be a team looking for the bus. Put a lot of pressure on their QB and make him start looking over his shoulder. Play some physical defense on the receivers. We are getting a reputation that we play physical in the Belt. This is a team 1-9 and looking for a reason to pack their bags. We do those things and we should have no trouble covering the spread.

Re: Opening line for Idaho
This game could get out of hand if we pressure their QB in the first quarter and run against them like I think we can.
The first quarter will be huge in this game, can't stubble out of the blocks. We haven't been a fast starting team yet this season, but if we could be we can put up some serious points.
I think we'll start slower than I'd like unfortunately.

They play their home games in a dome, just like Ga State
I'm not overlooking this team. Any given saturday, right? But I can also look at their stats/box scores and see why they are 1-9 and find some areas that our team can exploit and take advantage
