We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.
Screw it, I'm all in on the hope for CUSA invite.

We have the academics, the football, basketball on the rise, close to several huge media markets.
The move would benefit us because we would get an instate rival, better bowl games, more TV coverage.
Is this a pipe dream? Am I wrong about anything? What do you want?

Pipe dream that will never happen. CUSA is a dumpster fire. They will likely take a team with no history/tradition and one with a huge media market.

I don't agree. CUSA has become way too watered down, and yes I say that knowing that the sunbelt isn't much better but I see teams in our league trending up while I can't say that she for CUSA. As far as bowl tie-ins go I believe next year the sun belt has tie ins in Orlando and New Orleans being the big 2 and there's mobile and montgomery. Those are all four decent bowl destinations. And for tv I'm fine with mainly espn3 but I wouldn't mind a better tv deal either. For the most part I'm happy with the sun belt. I also think CUSA is too spread out now at least sunbelt is generally regional

The craziest thing I've seen today is Marshall fans openly lobbying for App on twitter and message boards. The world must really be coming to an end.

The really ballsy move would be to add us and Georgia Southern and vote out UNCC at the earliest opportunity. Instant upgrade to football and a haymaker to the Sun Belt.

USA is a better fit, but, I think SBC is going to be a better football conference, which is ultimately where we will make the most money, what worries me is ULL or Ark State leaving for USA. As far as our chances go, I think its almost slim and none, I think ULL, Ark State or even JMU will get the call long before we do.

That ship has sailed. CUSA wouldn't be interested in us unless the population of Boone grew 300,000 overnight. We are settling into a pretty good situation for the time being, and we should focus on continuing to thrive where we are. Hopefully, one day an opportunity that makes more geographical sense will present itself; but until then, we will continue to make ourselves and the Sunbelt stronger.

I say we stop insulting the conferance that took us. It's been one season and 6 wins. It's a good start but were not New Year's Day bowl bound just yet.

The grass is not always greener in another pasture, the Sunbelt wanted us and we are a good fit. Some of the sports in SB are stronger than CUSA. As far UNCC, I think we probably will schedule each other in most sports anyway.

Re: Screw it, I'm all in on the hope for CUSA invite.
The only thing that CUSA has going for it is the historic rivalry with Marshall. Otherwise, I'm happy with the Sun Belt. Besides, our rivalry with GSU is probably stronger than that with Marshall due to the time lapse. Top to bottom, all sports included, the two are fairly equal. Men's BBall may be better in CUSA, but otherwise things seem to be neck and neck. Each will have good years and bad, and both have their strengths and weaknesses.
At the end of the day, the Belt said 'we want App State', so I want the Belt.

I haven't looked at the games, but didn't the SunBelt destroy USA this year head to head? Seems like I remember hearing that on one of the ESPN3 games I watched. It was the ULL or this last game when I watched it on the computer.

Unfortunately, CUSA had the Sun Belt's number this season, going 4-0.
Southern Mississippi 21 - Appalachian St 20 W
UTEP 42 - New Mexico St 24 W
Louisiana Tech 48 - Louisiana Lafayette 20 W
Alabama Birmingham 48 - Troy St 10 W
The Sun Belt does have wins in the last 2 bowl meetings with CUSA, however, and are 17-13 since 2010.

So USA is not necessarily a better football conferance

Re: Screw it, I'm all in on the hope for CUSA invite.
If anyone leaves the Sun Belt for CUSA I actually hope it is ULL. Their fans have been begging for a chance to leave ever since MTSU left two years ago. Many of their people including their HC were against adding more FCS move ups when we came along. Also, it would open up the New Orleans Bowl slot for the rest of the conference since the NO Bowl has basically said they would take the Cajuns over any team in the Belt.
If they do leave we can also drop Idaho after next year and go with 9 teams that will all play each other. We would also reduce travel for everyone.
