Site Updates
This weekend, we'll be doing some maintenance on the Cabin. As with any home, regular maintenance can keep out unwanted pests, prevent catastrophic breakdowns, and ensure things remain in good working order. These updates will be on the backend and you will not notice most of the changes to the site or board.
Due to the amount of maintenance going on, there may be sporadic times where the site is inaccessible. Please be patient and know that we will keep those times to a minimum (there may be no interruptions at all). I would tell you exactly when those times will be, but that would require waterboarding or some sort of torture technique on my 2 year old (withholding the Disney channel for 5 minutes...) and 3 month old (not holding him for the same 5 minute time period) for them to tell me in advance, when they expect their naps to be and how long they will last. While I've been close on occasion, I haven't yet been pushed over the edge to implement those types of post birth information gathering techniques on them.
Thanks for your patience!

Re: Site Updates
Negative - it does not. As suggested though, the site should only be down for a minimal amount of time (less than 20-30 minutes). I EXPECT it to only be down for about 5 minutes. I am just baking in some extra time in the event of a problem. I'm certainly open to waiting to do the maintenance, but it can't be pushed off foreverAppinATL wrote:Does this HAVE to happen on the last weekend before signing day?

Do it! Everyone will survive! No need to kick this can down the road. Our fair share of can-kicking is being done in Wash. D. C. by stupid bureaucrats.

Ahhh, cool. Didn't realize it was such a short-term outage.

Re: Site Updates
Unfortunately we are currently under a DDoS attack from several computers, all originating in China. I've been in constant contact with our host to try and resolve the issue, but DDoS attacks are very tough to stop. Any updated planned for this weekend will be put on hold (nor would they have helped prevent this type of attack).asutrnr81 wrote:What chuck said above. Been unable to access all am. 8th time trying to post this. Keeps timing out.
A bit of information on DDoS attacks, it's a Distributed Denial of Service attack. It's where someone launches an attack sending massive amounts of traffic to the site, more than the server load can handle, and it makes the site virtually inaccessible. Our data is not at risk and our site is not at risk. Think of it like the Atlanta highway system when an ice storm comes by. The highways were fine - just clogged up for a while.
It would take A LOT of money (think 6 figures) to have an effective preventative system stopping everything but the most sophisticated attacks. Fortunately - the attacks also cost money and most attacks end within 72 hours. Our host, in the meantime, is working to block the IP addresses and traffic requests originating out of China (I apologize to an App fans who get blocked from our site from China). If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. This was unfortunately purely coincidental in timing given this thread.

Re: Site Updates
This is the first time I've been able to connect in almost 24 hours. I've tried every couple of hours since yesterday afternoon. So, maybe this is a hopeful sign.
Was going to post a ASU-GaSouth men's bkb thread; but don't want to be the reason someone else can't connect. So, Give 'em Hell, Apps in sold-out Hanner Fieldhouse in the 'boro...iggle-fans think they'll romp us. Could happen, 'cause we've won three straight in the series. But I tend to think not.
Later.
